A pocket-sized, curated space for coffee, music, and art tucked away in Makati 📻☕️

If you’re looking for a hidden, quiet, listening cafe near Rockwell, @pocketmakati might just be what you’re looking for 🙂‍↕️ The space is filled with a lot of ‘anik-anik’🧑🏻‍🩰, as well as vinyl records spinning in the background 🎶

I ordered a flat white with a flaky croissant from @5gcoffeehouse_mnl ☕️🥐 I enjoyed these, so I’m sharing my experience here!

📍Unit 102, Globill Mansion, Poblacion, Makati City
🕖 7:30am-7pm daily; closed on Tuesdays
🅿️ Street parking available, but best to park in Rockwell and take a short walk🚶🏻‍♀️

Bad lighting and mixing, but always a good time at @pocketmakati

At 6, we dim the lights, let the day slow down a little more, and ease into some nice grooves until our usual closing time at 7.

But tell us, weary travellers, would you stay a little longer for an evening of good music and unhurried listening? Shall we let the grooves play on?

I’ve never felt so prepared and so unprepared for an event at the same time.

100/10 the craziest service I’ve ever had to go through.

85 cups ordered in an hour.
45 minute wait time.
7 different, complicated drinks designed for a slow service.

It was fucking awesome.

I jokingly say I would never wish this kind of rush on any barista or bartender, given the tools we had that day. Things definitely didn’t go how we planned, but there’s something pretty special about being thrown completely into the deep end with people you trust.

Because underneath all the chaos, this was exactly why we do this. To make coffee and drinks that are a little different. To take something we love and turn it into something other people can enjoy. Getting to do that while celebrating three years of Tandem was a privilege.

A huge thank you to chefs @mikeelopez.tan and @alexcraig.tan of @tandem.mnl for always giving @guesthouse.coffee an avenue to share and express our passion.

To Jo and Mandrake of @kubocoffee_ , for always supporting us and making sure everything outside the bar is handled while we’re busy losing our minds behind it.

To Day, for jumping into expo and guiding us through the weeds, and making sure nothing got neglected while we were getting absolutely buried.

To @ak.arw , for always being my reliable spro man, and to our bosses at @pocketmakati for letting me bring Pocket’s drinks to the Tandem audience.

Special mention to @dumdumdums for helping with everything from R&D and batch prep to ingress and egress. And to my ever-so-supportive waifu @smolpiepie for documenting the whole thing so beautifully.

And lastly, to everyone who came. Friends, familiar faces, and those who probably had no idea who we were. Thank you for giving us a chance.

I hope you enjoyed the drinks as much as we enjoyed making them. And if a cup didn’t quite live up to your expectations, I hope you’ll give us another chance. I’d be more than happy to make you a new one at one of our upcoming events.

Looking through these photos, I think that’s what I’ll remember most.

Not the wait times.
Not the 85 cups.
Not even the chaos.

Just the people.

Happy 3rd birthday again, @tandem.mnl 🫶

I’m happy there’s more to see and do in Manila these days so my side quests never ends 🥰

Three years of Tandem.

We spent our anniversary doing what we love most: cooking, creating, and filling the restaurant with people we love. After three incredible days of service, we’re still trying to take it all in.

To Cara and Luis, thank you for stepping into our tiny kitchen and creating with us. An eight-hands dinner was no small feat, but somehow, it just worked.

To Christine and Jo of @halfsaints, and our friends from @pocketmakati, @guesthouse.coffee, and @kubocoffee_, thank you for choosing to spend our birthday with us. Sunday was crazy! We sold out in less than an hour, and we’re still overwhelmed by the love and support.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who walked through our doors that weekend, and everyone who has walked through them over the last three years. Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or only found us recently, thank you for giving us a reason to keep doing what we do.

We’re a small restaurant with a small team, and none of this happens without the people who keep showing up for us.

Three years down, and hopefully many more meals to go. See you all again soon. 💚

A MONTH OF BACK TO BACK PIES & POPUPS 🥧💫

Swipe thru for a little recap of one very eventful (and pie-filled) month of pop-ups, collabs, and lots and lots of baking!!!

What a privilege it is to be given the space to create, collaborate, and share our pies with more people. I’ve learned SOOOO much this month and met so many new pie friends along the way ++ even spotting the same familiar faces week after week at every new pop-up 🥹 you guys know who you are!!!

1,000++ pies made 🥧
7 new flavors added ⭐️
dozens of new pie friends made 🫶🏻
and sooo many lessons learned along the way.

Feeling extra grateful for everyone who baked, built, collaborated, showed up, shared a slice, or simply came by to say hi. shoutout to @pocketmakati @taka.mnl @fiasfud @kukido_ !!!! yall are amazing!!!

Onto the next pop-ups!!! SEE U SOON PIE FRIENDS 🏃🏻‍♀️🥧💌

A weekend was had 🩶💮🐑

Thank you to everyone who came to support our first gua-mama pop up at @pocketmakati ! We were overjoyed to serve 💋!!! Thank you for letting us play.

The prep behind our first rodeo was definitely not zen, not easy-peasy! But here are a few captured footage that made it seem deceivingly so 🪷

What does it mean to eat by the seasons? Using mid autumn as our reference point: we pulled foods we eat by tradition, transformed into the modern guama palette. Be it pears, yams, tea, or liqueur: an homage to both the old and the new.

THIS WEEKEND ONLY
8am - 7pm at @pocketmakati
