Okanagan Paraclimbing Community!

Back in 2019, when I first started climbing, I had no idea paraclimbing was a thing. Two years later I discovered the international paraclimbing community and found myself a part of one of the coolest groups of people there is. Even still, I thought I was the only one like me in the Okanagan, and would come back from my trips away missing my connection to the paraclimbing community. Over time though I began to meet other local adaptive rock climbers and made an effort to get our little group together to climb. The other day we had our first outdoor climbing experience together and I can confidently say that this community has the same amazing energy on a local level as it does on a national and international level. Anytime and anywhere paraclimbers get together it is bound to be incredible. So many smiles. So many super strong people getting the opportunity to climb in a wonderfully supportive environment.

Shoutout to @mo_perna and @carly.proppe for making up the best community I could ask for. Thank you to @alauraoutside and @poggirific for supporting us and being such amazing people. Thank you to @jacquigelineau for your passion and interest in our developing community.

Looking forward to many more outings like this one. And to growing this community even more.

❤️🧡💛

An amazing day with amazing people! 🤍

I still can’t believe that we have our own little Paraclimbing crew! Words can’t express how much this gimpy lil family means to me. Forever grateful to @shamus.b.climbing for bringing us together and organizing great climbing days like this one. And so crazy proud and stoked for @carly.proppe ‘s first time climbing outside and absolutely crushing it! 💪

Also so so thankful to climb and be with @alauraoutside, @jacquigelineau and @poggirific. Thank you for all the leads, belays, encouragement, support and friendship. You guys are so wonderful and it’s such a privilege to climb with you. Can’t wait for the next time!

Special shout out to @deadpointclimbingco for the only tape that actually stays on Lefty (and trust me, I’ve tried many). 💀

AND special shout out to @a.aron.life for all the incredible physio work. I didn’t think it was possible to gain more movement, control and strength on my left side but with 8 months of hard work, it’s definitely paying off and I couldn’t have gotten this far without you!

Basically I’m just so damn thankful for ALL the people in my life! You are all awesome 🤍

Ps: On May 16th @shamus.b.climbing is competing in Salt Lake City for the IFSC Paraclimbing World Cup, please go check out his bio and donate to help him out! 🇨🇦
