100 Homes. One Community. Many hands.

The Fortress 100 Homes Initiative in Nabuti was a reminder of what becomes possible when people choose to show up for one another.

From household support, health services and psychosocial support to conversations around stress, mental health, addiction, skills and livelihoods, we spent the day meeting people where they are and reminding them that they are seen, heard and valued.

And what better way to bring the community together than through music, talent and performance? A special thank you to Uganda Alcohol Policy Alliance and Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) for adding energy, creativity and youth expression to the day. Their work with young people and substance-use prevention aligns strongly with the kind of community resilience we are working to build.

This initiative was made possible through the collective effort of:

@crys_talminds @lionsclubs @LeosClub @proballseries Series @gilo_young_positives_found @redplusorganisation Organization @ArukahHouse @C-Hub Foundation @works_of_the_mind @spread_joy_initiative_ug @Jil Dental @sascells1 @Ambexconsults @RuthNkoyoyoWellnessCenter @ucu.nsa @TommyFoundation @policyuganda @hotloaf_bakery

To every partner, volunteer, professional, performer, community member and supporter who contributed in one way or another. Thank you.

Every person deserves equal access to justice, healthcare, and other essential public services regardless of where they come from. On 6th August, SEMA brought together leaders of Refugee-Led Organizations for a meaningful dialogue on the barriers refugees face when accessing healthcare, police services, and other essential public services. #communityengagement #dataforgood

In the face of a public health crisis, community feedback can be one of the most powerful tools for spreading accurate information, addressing misconceptions, and building trust.

In our latest article, we explore how community feedback can help strengthen outbreak response efforts, counter misinformation, and foster trust between communities, the media, and response teams, ultimately contributing to a more informed and resilient public health response. I took this image of my colleagues last year October, in the alcohol regulation fraternity as we met with Government of Uganda officials at the Office of the Prime Minister Uganda at the second #NACPOfUganda follow-up meeting.

Guess where it ended up, as of last week?! ☺️

@WHO included it in their latest progress report on the global #SAFER initiative on alcohol policy.
