For my Lighting class I am teaching for the Film Program at Sac State, I decided to add in-depth case study breakdowns of the technical details and creative decisions in some of my old work.

Here’s a throwback to a photo shoot from 2013 when I put @misnerandsmith in the American River for promo images for their “Seven Hour Storm” album. Credits: @2407graphics @kyle.monhollen: graphic design for poster, and Melanie Bown: assistant/grip

Big love and thanks to everyone who came out and made this year’s @davismusicfest such a beautiful weekend! We were honored to once again be a part of this joy-filling, multi-dimensional, super-diverse, musical celebration. A special shout-out to @kyle.monhollen and @davislivemusic for always taking such great care to make the artists feel welcomed and appreciated.

Most of the funds from this fest are fed into supporting arts education in our community. What could be more important than to inspire and encourage the next generation to pursue their passion?

And thank you to @eunahtuna for this sweet live clip of our song “Compose” off of our new album with our full band, Bruce Kaphan (keyboards, pedal steel, mandolin, electric guitar, electric bass), and @dillonvado (drums and percussion).

If you missed us don’t worry, we’ve got more shows coming up, to be announced soon. Heads up to friends and fans in our beloved Sonoma County, we’re coming for ya next, stay tuned for details!

HAPPY RELEASE DAY! “All is Song”, our sixth album, is out now!
Standing in front of this beautiful art by the Tlingit indigenous people here in Juneau, Alaska we feel an immense amount of gratitude to be celebrating this milestone! We’ll be celebrating all day, first we’ll be visiting the local radio station @ktoopubmedia for their afternoon music show, and then tonight we’ll be hitting the stage at the @akfolkfest at 8:30pm. Then tomorrow night we’re rounding off the weekend with another show at the amazing @thecrystalsaloon from 6-8pm. You can stream all of these sets and listen in live! Thank you for celebrating with us!

“All is Song” is out TODAY! There are very few words we can think of to describe how we feel about this record and what it means to us that we got to make this beautiful thing. What we can say is as of today it belongs to you. Let it in and give it a listen and we hope you’ll hear the love we poured into every single track. It is available everywhere you listen to music right now.

There are so many people who came together to help us make this record. From the folks who stepped up to fund the project, to the musicians who showed up with so much creativity and musical curiosity, to our families who never stopped their flow of positive energy encouraging us to keep going. But we have to thank one person in particular who is not on social media so we can’t tag him here but we wanted to give a huge shoutout to our dear friend Bruce Kaphan! Not only was he our co-producer on this project but he shows up in so many ways on this album and this record would not be the same without his collaboration with us both.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY!! And please enjoy, “All is Song” 💚🎶🥳🍻🔥⚡️🌞🎵💙🌊‼️🎵🎶🤘🧡💥🍾

“It’s all song. Everything we experience is, in a way, music.” 💫

We sat down with @partonikusmax for @thebluegrasssituation to talk about our love for gardening and how it plays into creating music. Big thanks to Chris for the wonderful conversation, we had a blast!
