Making a difference through the wonderful world of Polly Pin. We are working together with Janome UK and The National Literacy Trust 📚🪡🧵❤️

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Well, what a week it was. 💛

We welcomed over 500 of you to author events, workshops and activities.

We had our literary fairy visit the local hospital to give away books!

Over 4,500 children across Stoke-on-Trent attended an event with an author either online or in person.

Our first networking event was attended by over 60 local authors with meaningful connections made.

Thank you to all of you who engaged with us, shared, liked mentions our posts and even better if you visited one of our events.

From a small idea back in May, a brilliant first year was created.

The story starts here... Stay tuned for more events, pop ups and general book stuff!!

“Even the smallest tool plays a vital part in a bigger creation...”

From the sewing room to the big stage! We are delighted to share that Polly Pin is coming to @thegoodclothesshow in Manchester this November.

Author Melanie Selver and illustrator Christine Warrington, will be hanging out in the Kidzone, bringing the world of Polly Pin to life for all the mini fashion designers and makers out there.

The Kidzone is incredible - it’s a space where kids get to explore textile upcycling, play with design, and discover how much fun slow fashion can be!

We can’t wait to hear Polly’s message of self-worth, community, and creativity with so many young minds. Will we see you there?

7-8 November 2026, Manchester Central tickets at www.thegoodclothesshow.com

I love teaching my children how to sew and they're starting to love it just as much as me! I bought my little boy his first sewing machine when he was only 5 and he's taken to it straight away.

I also love showing the children I teach at school everything I've made and encouraging them to have a go too. They always love to show me their handmade creations! We all watched the first episode of Sewing Bee together in the school hall on the big screen and it was so lovely to see how excited they were to see their teacher on the telly! I'd love to see one of them on the show one day....you never know 🤞

Thank you so much to @pollypin_ for sending me the lovely childrens' sewing storybooks. We've loved reading them both at home and school.

Relatable Full circle moment!

The powerful minutes when Raz bumped into his old nursery teacher 25 years later, at the Stoke Arts Exchange Forum networking breakfast.

Imagine that - play, guidance on colouring in the lines, storytime and finger painting ....

.. now both arts professionals working in the same circle.

Who knew the best connection in the room was built a quarter of a century ago?

A huge thank you to everyone who came to our festival on Saturday.

We have had some incredible feedback and can't wait to sit down and read all the comment cards you filled in.

All feedback is good and helps us plan next year so please comment here or email us with your ideas and comments.

I'm also putting together a little post to say thank you to everyone behind the curtain - all those folks who gave money, time and expertise to make this event happen in the first place 🫶

@pollypin_ Thank you for sharing your story and sharing the skill of sewing. I often sing ‘wind the bobbin up’ in my sessions and as you said yesterday so many children have no idea what a bobbin is. It’s great that you’re bringing the rhyme to life and giving it meaning. 🥰
