Does art imitate life, or does life imitate art?

The outcome of this creative shoot with @createwithgusto and @polychromist at @jacumbahotspringshotel’s old bathhouse reminded me so much of the essence and spirit of two paintings from my Waking Life Collection- Castles in the Sky (24x20) and Valentino’s Garden (28x22). *both available!

Do you see it?

“For the good we get from art is not what we learn from it; it is what we become through it.” — Oscar Wilde

Exciting news! 📣

Fine art prints of my commissioned painting ‘Golden Hour at the San Diego Museum of Art’ are now available for purchase in @sandiegomuseumofart’s exquisitely curated gift shop.

Available in both 14 × 11 and 20 × 16, they’re beautifully printed, beautifully priced (if I might say so myself), and a lovely way to take a little piece of the Museum, and San Diego, home with you.

A painting created for the Museum, now available to collect. 🤍

P.S. You can also purchase prints directly through my website.

And for the collector: THE ORIGINAL PAINTING IS ALSO FOR SALE.

Yes—the actual commissioned original, created for the San Diego Museum of Art, is available to add to your collection.

Have you ever dreamed of owning a work of art that has been exhibited in a museum? This might be your chance 😘.

So many years, so many sails, so many celebrations, so many beautiful nights, and so many moments in between. Peirce + Bales family sails, adventures with friends, countless memories, laughter, a few tears, and a whole lot of life lived together.

Looking through these photos reminded me just how many of my favorite memories have you in them.

I’m so grateful to have a friend to walk through the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Cheers to someone I will always believe in and forever be in awe of, not only for your extraordinary talent and creativity, but for the beautiful person you are.

What a gift it is to watch you continue to dream, create, evolve, and make the world more beautiful everywhere you go. And what a gift it is to have a front row seat. ✨

Happy birthday, Stefanie. Here’s to all the places we’ve been, the memories we’ve made, and all of this magical life still ahead. ilysm.

Forever cheering you on. 🤍 xox m.

Anyone who knows me knows I have a deep love for France, its culture, and its art.

I’ve always been inspired by the Belle Époque’s belief that beauty belongs in everyday life. It’s an era where art spilled out of galleries and into cafés, hotels, streets, and public gathering places.

That’s something I’ve spent my own career pursuing: creating work that invites people to experience art where they already gather.

So getting to bring Jane Avril to life while helping introduce San Diegans to one of the most extraordinary collections of Toulouse-Lautrec’s work outside of France feels like a love letter to a culture that has inspired me for as long as I can remember

We’re in the one-month countdown until this once-in-a-generation exhibition at the @sandiegomuseumofart closes- the works won’t be exhibited again for decades…

and there are only 10 DAYS left to have tea with Jane at @westgatehotel until she continues on to her final stop on her tour de San Diego.

Be sure to visit Jane before August 30, and the exhibition before Sept 20. À très bientôt!

Just a girl adding “commissioned by museums” to her resume 🤗

Thanks (again) to the @sandiegomuseumofart for making all of my little girl dreams come true. It’s an honor to be in the family 💕

“I am Malice in Wonderland and I have succeeded in spending my life in an unreality made up of fun, so much too much fun”

Tonight’s opening of Cecil Beaton: The Art of Elegance at @mopasd was a beautiful celebration of the intersection of art, fashion, portraiture, and photography (en vogue), and a reminder that creativity rarely stays in one lane.

Beaton moved effortlessly between disciplines, creating images that continue to influence how we understand glamour, composition, and self-expression. His work feels as inspiring and relevant today as it was decades ago. Both a pioneer and a chronicler of visual history.

The show is on view through the end of the year, so you have plenty of time to catch it✨

Last September, I started a conversation with @foreverbalboapark about helping create visual assets depicting the 9 future gardens that would surround the new botanical building.

We spent the next several months working together to conceptualize the gardens and bring that vision to life.

The project culminated in a formal, illustrative wayfinding map, hand-painted in watercolor. The floral “pull-outs,” which highlighted the specific flowers and botanicals planned for each garden, were then used across a variety of promotional materials—

First coming to life at Balboa Park’s holiday Winter Wonderland, then at the Grand Pergola Reveal, and finally culminating at the Garden Party celebration and fundraiser earlier this month.

To stand within, and dance among, gardens that once existed only in my painting... there really are no words for that feeling.

To have played even a small part in helping visualize such a meaningful and historic transformation of Balboa Park has been an extraordinary honor.

Forever Balboa Park’s first annual Garden Party was nothing short of magical.

Thoughtfully curated, beautifully executed, and set against the backdrop of the newly restored Botanical Building and surrounding gardens, the evening felt like stepping into a dream. Around every corner was a gorgeous surprise, a hidden detail, or a striking architectural wonder that reminded us just how extraordinary Balboa Park truly is.

As the sun set and guests wandered through the gardens and danced around the fountain, I found myself already dreaming about my next event in this stunning space. I have a feeling we may have just unveiled San Diego’s most beautiful venue.

What a gift it is to be stewards of this remarkable place and to celebrate all that has been preserved, restored, and made possible through the support of this community.

Until next year. 🌿✨
(And hopefully sooner…)
