New work: Cobbler's Shoes Series The next five are live. A few weeks ago, we admitted that our own case studies had spent far too long at the bottom of the to-do list. Since then, we’ve been giving them the same care and attention we bring to our client work: revisiting the thinking, unpacking the process and showing the collaboration and craft behind the final result. Probably Serif, a custom font for @carlsberg, wins a @d_and_ad Wood Pencil for Type Design & Lettering. Skål, @taxistudio! - Probably. The Best Serif in the World. For over 150 years, Carlsberg has balanced science and imagination. Its 1904 brandmark by Thorvald Bindesbøll embodies this tension—organic yet precise, fluid yet structured. Probably Serif translates this distinctive DNA into a contemporary typeface. Developed across Latin and Cyrillic scripts, it creates a consistent, recognisable voice across markets. The result is a unifying visual language—enduring, characterful and unmistakably Carlsberg.

🏆 8 x nominations for this year’s Scottish Design Awards 🏆 A fantastic start to the week with the news we had been nominated for 8 @scottishdesignawards . The level of work is extremely high this year and we’re humbled to have a seat at the table. We were fortunate to work on some truly incredible projects last year, and seeing that work recognised is a real testament to the talent, dedication and craft of our team and creative collaborators. ---- Roquefort is a quirky, expanded grotesque: bold, slightly unruly, and full of personality. Much like its namesake cheese, it doesn’t aim to be polite or neutral. New Work: FG Burnett Brand Evolution With over 64 years of heritage, FG Burnett approached us at a pivotal moment in their journey. The challenge was not to reinvent the brand, but to evolve it carefully, bringing clarity and confidence to their visual identity while respecting the legacy that had been built over decades. From the outset, it was clear this was a balancing act. FG Burnett’s reputation, experience, and authority needed to remain front and centre, while the identity itself had to feel relevant to a modern, competitive market. Our role was to find that middle ground, where heritage and progression could sit comfortably together. The new logo became the foundation of the refreshed identity. Designed as a custom word marque, it was built to work consistently across digital, print, and physical environments, ensuring recognisability and longevity regardless of scale or context. Typography played a crucial role in bridging past and future. Working closely with Scottish typographer @polytypefoundry we developed a custom typeface that balances contemporary typographic sensibilities with a sense of permanence. The result is a type system that feels confident, authoritative, and built to last. This project was about more than a visual refresh. It was about setting FGBurnett up for the next chapter of their business. By carefully blending tradition with modern design thinking, we created an identity that honours their past while giving them a confident platform for future growth. Have a project in mind? New Work: Bosie Knitwear @bosieknitwear has long been celebrated for its luxury Scottish knitwear, where timeless heritage meets contemporary design. Every garment is proudly crafted in Scotland, with a deep commitment to ethical practices and uncompromising quality. When Bosie approached us, the task was clear: reimagine their brand identity for a new era. Our process began by immersing ourselves in the history of Scotland’s North East fishing communities. From weathered fisherman’s journals, we lifted typeface inspiration and colour references. From the rugged coastline, we drew a palette of natural tones that carry both authenticity and character. We moved boldly away from the existing identity, creating a custom logotype in collaboration with Glasgow-based typographer Polytype. This gave Bosie a look that feels both rooted in tradition and strikingly modern. The chosen headline typeface, Stroma, with its sharp fishhook-inspired details on letters like “S” and “C”, perfectly captures Bosie’s heritage while balancing against a clean sans serif for clarity and contrast. Imagery and motion played a vital role in capturing Bosie’s renewed spirit. Working once again with the talented Tom Leeper, alongside videographer Kailas Gurung and photographer Simon Lipman, Tom art directed and commissioned a series of shoots that brought the 2025 collection to life with cinematic depth. Finally, to give Bosie’s new identity a lasting digital presence, we partnered with Uncover Commerce on a Shopify build, crafting a site designed not just for today but for the years ahead. This project was deeply personal for Bosie, and a privilege for us to bring to life. Collaborating with such a passionate team across design, illustration, photography and development was an honour, and we could not be more excited about the result. Full case study dropping soon.
