Five generations, five distinct practices, and five different ways of looking at the body, identity, memory, power and Mexican culture.

Meet Mariane Ibrahim ✨ @marianeibrahimgallery

Mariane Ibrahim has developed an international program bringing together contemporary voices across geographies, generations and practices, with a strong focus on identity, memory, representation and lived experience.

For MIRA Art Fair 2026, Mariane Ibrahim presents a duo show bringing together Hilda Palafox and Cristina Flores Pescorán. Through distinct practices, both artists approach the body as a space of experience, memory and transformation.

Hilda Palafox explores the human figure through questions of subjectivity, intimacy and the female experience, moving between reality and fantasy while drawing from Mexican muralism, Latin American modernism and contemporary feminist perspectives.

Cristina Flores Pescorán works across textile, video, performance and installation, bringing together personal experiences of illness and healing with ancestral Peruvian knowledge, ritual practices and material traditions. Her work considers the body through vulnerability, protection, memory and transformation.

SAVE THE DATE I Summer Closure & September Program

While Mariane Ibrahim Paris pauses for the summer (closed from July 26–September 2), our Chicago and Mexico City galleries remain open throughout the season, with a brief closure from August 17–22. We are already looking ahead to September, when Mexico emerges as a place of encounter, exchange, and artistic dialogue at the heart of our fall program.

“Intersections” brings Elsa-Louise Manceaux and Hilda Palafox—both based in Mexico City—to Paris, extending an ongoing cultural exchange between France and Mexico. In Mexico City, “Selva color del tiempo” marks José Gamarra’s first solo exhibition in the country, bringing six decades of work into dialogue with the histories and landscapes of the Americas. Meanwhile, in Chicago, “Éramos silencios” marks Clotilde Jiménez’s return to the city with a deeply personal new body of work rooted in family, memory, and identity, created from his Mexico City studio.

Together, these exhibitions reflect the gallery’s commitment to fostering dialogue across geographies through artists whose practices transcend borders.
