POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My debut story collection, SO FAR BEHIND I THOUGHT I WAS FIRST, is available for pre-order now, with a publication date of December 10th! We're finishing the final layout and I'm so incredibly proud to see this thing go out into the world. The stories rock and the book looks so good.

Pre-order sales are so helpful for so many reasons. If our numbers are high, it will help instill confidence in the booksellers we are reaching out to. That means more book stores will stock it, which is huge for me and my publisher, Pool Party.

Please order a copy if you haven't already! You're going to love it.

Follow the pre-order link in my bio ✌️

Cutting Up a New Tank Top for Sapphic Fridays — Shoutout @poolpartymag for the cameo ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Looking good. Look at this cute little room today. It’s all right, rock my roots. Fingers out. I marked it up. It’s hard to see Sharpie on black. God, I can’t see the line that I marked. Just hopefully it doesn’t look like s***. Kind of janky. Holy s***. Not my best work. All right, thank God. Let’s make sure I know where I’m going this time. A good cut. Okay. Long cuts so we don’t get janky edges. God, this is tougher. Goddamn. Boom. New cutoff tank shirt. Yeah, not my best cut job, but... Sapphic Fridays. If you haven’t been to Sapphic Fridays, come out to Sapphic Fridays. It’s every Friday hosted by the Sapphic Sisters. Boom, and just like that, we’re back. Sapphic Fridays looking good. Coffee b*** So if you want a Sapphic Fridays shirt, holler at me. You know where to get ahold of me. Look at this cute little room today. It’s Saturday. It’s slow, but the room is filled with lovely people. Look at that. Welcome Sapphic Fridays. Thanks for cutting up another shirt with me, y’all. I love you. I got you. Bing bong. A Portland marathon coming through. Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo. Pool party. Yeah.

Dan and I are doing a reading with the Pool Party editors! Ten years ago I met this charming Florida man @danielscsutter and we've talked about writing ever since. He's got a book out called Debris and I love it. We'll be at Aalto Lounge @aaltolounge Thursday, August 27th at 6pm, chatting and reading and we'd love to see you! Come hang out! There's a link to the event in my bio

So proud of my brilliant wife, Ryan-Ashley, who just completed double master degrees in Critical Theory and Visual Studies. She completed two theses (including a 70+ page written thesis and an interactive exhibition), then presented and defended them to a panel, and just to make things even more crazy/ambitious, managed to put on a show with fellow artist @kobeybonincreative called GROUP WORK and curate a show at the Alberta Street Gallery in the same semester. All while acting as managing editor for @poolpartymag. She continues to amaze me daily, as I watch her grow as an artist, writer, and theorist and see her inspire the arts and writing communities she is a part of ✨ First photo: @lucyydiane

If you’ve noticed we’ve been a little quiet lately, it’s because our managing editor and my talented wife, Ryan-Ashley Anderson, has been preparing for her MFA thesis exhibition, which opens TONIGHT (Sat 4/18) at Building 5: 2516 NW 29th Ave Portland, OR 97210. Her work is going to BLOW YOU AWAY!!! Hope to see you there!!! ❤️ (it’s translation-related and involves hand-bound books 📕)

Coming up in our community space-

Intimate Ecologies explores themes of migration, dislocation, ritual, and the relationship between people and place. It invites meditations on slowness, embodiment, and stewardship as mediums for reciprocal practices which reinforce solidarity with the natural world and all its inhabitants.

Curated by Ryan-Ashley Anderson, this multi-media group show, features risograph prints by Stephanie Adams-Santos, ceramic sculptures by Ari Albertson, intermedia print art by Kobey Bonin, textile art by Mei Lai, and ekphrastic literary responses by Sequoia Snogran-McGinnis. Ari and Stephanie have also prepared sound art compositions to accompany the show.

Opening reception one week from today
Last Thursday, March 26th 6-9pm

Happy Birthday to my AI/social media averse wife (who prefers to be photographed behind sexy magazines), and who is the coolest, kindest, funniest, hottest, most talented person I know. Ever since she came into my life, it has been better in every way. She’s the genius / wizard / driving force behind @poolpartymag and daily makes art that inspires and awes me. Every morning we sit at our desks to work and a hundred times a day swivel around to workshop ideas and writing and art concepts or just talk about the world and philosophy or whatever we’re reading/thinking about. It’s what I’ve always wanted from life—a true partner to share this crazy experience with. I’m the luckiest guy on the planet 🌎❤️🎂😘 * note: I love Ryan-Ashley so much that I’m adding my least favorite band ever Third Eye Blind (who she loves) as the audio for this post 🤮

So incredibly proud of (and amazed by) my wife Ryan-Ashley’s (@poolpartymag) collaborative exhibition with fellow artist @kobeybonincreative GROUP WORK. I’d seen the elements coming together over the past few months, but experiencing it as a finalized work of art was powerful and emotional. Moving from the main area where the viewer meditates on the many weights we carry in this world to the small quiet room featuring an original music performance (with coded messaging) by Ryan-Ashley got me crying like a little kid. It’s still up for a few more days. Hope you can check it out if you’re in Portland ❤️🔥
