Today is the International Day Against Homophobia,Biphobia, Transphobia & discrimination against Intersex People.

Transgender women in Australia are increasingly targeted as a focal point in political debates.

Instead of asking how can we make trans women and trans men lives safer, easier & better - we have Riverina’s One Nation branch president posting a video suggesting he police women’s access to public bathrooms.

The biggest threat to all women in the Riverina is a cis man using his political platform to dog whistle his followers.

This is Us.

Breaking news.

Today, the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran published a list of individuals whose assets have been confiscated, who have been placed under a prohibition on financial transactions, and whose bank accounts have been frozen, on the grounds of what it has described as “support for Israel, the United States, and hostile governments.”

Upon Zahra Ghanbari’s forced and coerced return to Iran, the regime paraded her as a hero on propaganda State TV.

With Nowruz over, the regime has now seized Zahra Ghanbari’s assets.

Ignorance, arrogance, complacency and incompetence - the four key ingredients for this disaster of a dish that Australia served up to the Iranian Women’s National football team.

Its been two weeks since Japan won the Women’s Asian Cup.

The LOC, The AFC, Football Australia, Andrew Cooke, Andrew Powell, The AFP, and Home Affairs remain tight lipped, choosing silence over accountability.

Federal inquiries are designed to investigate matters of public importance, evaluate policy and administrative policies, procedures and actions.

We need a federal inquiry!

Yesterday I drove to Canberra to support my friend’s documentary screening - 500 Days in the Wild. (In reality, it was over 1800.)

Dianne spent six years traversing the entire 24,0000kms of Canada’s land and water trails from sea to sea to sea.

In May, her film will be released in Australian theaters. Demand your local theater support this film and spread the word.

Connection over conquer.
You cannot conquer the wilderness, you have to listen to her. #500daysinthewild #dianewhelan

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

John Farnham’s memoir is a moving & wonderful trip down memory lane for me. I grew up listening to his music & watching him perform. I was fortunate to see him on stage in Pippin, sing with Stevie Wonder while Stevie was touring Australia, & star in Jesus Christ Superstar.
His album ‘Whispering Jack’ was the soundtrack of my life in the 80’s while I lived in country Victoria & I would ‘belt it out’ while I made the long drive home to Melbourne most weekends.
While John & his wife Jill narrated his life story, my own life was playing alongside it … wonderful memories with my family & friends.
John shares the good times & challenges, the ups & the downs ~ showing resilience & bravery, & a deep appreciation & respect for those around him.

Sometimes the word ‘legend’ is thrown around pretty loosely, but it this case, there’s no better word.
John Farnham, you’re a bloody legend.
Thanks for the songs & the memories.
If you haven’t read the book, or listened to the audiobook, do yourself a favour.

To finish in John’s own words ~
‘If you can, stay positive.’

🎉 𝕋𝕠𝕡 ℝ𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝟚𝟘𝟚𝟝 🎉

Welcome to the pointy end of the year where I showcase my Top Reads!

In 2025, I've read 120 books. This is down from previous years, but hey- I experienced a cyclone in March and also paused my reading during the Christmas lead-up.

Half of my Top Reads are Australian authors, including my Books of the Year! (Yes, I said Books because these two are equally deserving of the top spot!)

🪅 𝔹𝕠𝕠𝕜𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕐𝕖𝕒𝕣 🪅

Pictures of You by Emma Grey (which was also my first book of 2025!)
The Voice Inside by John Farnham and Poppy Stockell

Thanks to all the authors and publishers who made 2025 a great year, especially those who've provided ARCS!

Here's to 2026!

📖 вσσкѕ σƒ 2025- нαℓƒωαу є∂ιтιση 📖

Welcome to that part of the year where I share my favourite reads so far!

Six of them romance, one contemporary and the other one of the most down to earth memoirs I've ever come across.

So far, Pictures of You by Emma Grey and John Farnham's The Voice Inside are tied for 2025's top position.

Goodreads Reading Challenge: 70/140

According to my reading tracker blanket, my most read genres are mysteries/thrillers, police procedurals, and romance. Least read: fantasy, historical fiction, and non fiction- something I want to work on more.

What's been your favourite reads of the year so far?

Hachette is thrilled to announce a luxurious full-colour collector’s edition of John Farnham’s award-winning and bestselling memoir, THE VOICE INSIDE—co-authored with Poppy Stockell.

This lavish illustrated edition enriches the original with more than 200 images and photographs, some of which have never been seen before, drawn from the Farnham family archive and from treasured memorabilia preserved by the late Glenn Wheatley—John’s longtime manager and friend—and his wife, Gaynor. It also includes a new chapter in which Farnham looks back on the entire journey—writing the memoir, recording the audiobook, the fan response to the book, and sharing recent updates from his family.

Farnham said of the illustrated edition: ‘What began as one book has become two—and apparently, I take up more pages than anyone expected! We had so many incredible photos; we just couldn't help ourselves. Revisiting these memories—first for the original edition and now this one— has been a true joy. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has come along for this ride.’

THE VOICE INSIDE: ILLUSTRATED EDITION will be published on 28 October. Pre-order via the link in the bio.
