Cracks, gold, and the best company ✨🏺

Our JBN Women’s Initiative Kintsugi Night was one for the books! We learned the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold, and honestly? It’s a lot harder than it looks 😅

But that’s the beauty of it. Kintsugi doesn’t hide the cracks, it turns them into something stronger and more beautiful. The perfect reminder as we move from the High Holidays into Sukkos, the time of our joy 💛

A golden thank you to our amazing co-chairs Tori Levin, Nina Rosen, and Ali Sichel for bringing this night to life 🫶 And thank you to every woman who came out to create, connect, and shine. See you in the spring!

Today we remember and honor the lives we lost on September 11, 2001, and in the years since—and the extraordinary number of people and working dogs who ran toward the devastation when so many others were trying to get away. It’s hard to believe it has been 25 years.

Philadelphia played many roles in the response efforts. One such story came from Dr. Cynthia Otto of @pennvetschool who deployed to Ground Zero with Pennsylvania Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 1, where she spent 10 days caring for the search-and-rescue dogs working through the rubble. Her experience ultimately became the inspiration for the Penn Vet Working Dog Center, which opened on September 11, 2012.

Today, the Center combines veterinary medicine, research and training to help working dogs do their jobs more safely and effectively. Its dogs and researchers work across search and rescue, explosives detection, law enforcement, medical detection and conservation, while studying everything from scent and cognition to genetics, fitness, conditioning and long-term health.

It feels especially meaningful that one piece of Philadelphia’s legacy from such a devastating day is a place devoted to preparing the next generation of dogs to help protect, find and save people. Today we remember all of them—the lives lost, the teams who answered the call, and the working dogs whose service continues that legacy.

Tackling the Wall

There was no better spot along the Manayunk portion of the @philadelphiacyclingclassic to watch the riders put in 150% than along the famous WALL. #Thewall is a winding stretch of road in the heart of Manayunk that tests the mettle of the racers than this stretch of asphalt.

These images were shot as close as they look, and it was worth the climb (on foot) to make these photos.

Rittenhouse Row was a big hit this year with street vendors, food, music (djs and live), arts and crafts and so much more. We loved seeing all the families, friends and dogs out and about enjoying the beautiful Spring day in Rittenhouse

@parksontap really knows how to kick off the season. Between the dogs, families, friends, brews, and food, the whole scene at Schuylkill River Park—right by the dog park—felt like everyone had been waiting for this moment.

Blankets out, friends catching up, pups weaving between it all, and that first real stretch of warm weather bringing everyone back outside. It was one of those days where you run into familiar faces at every turn and end up staying longer than planned. ✨

In the span of a week we’ve gone from shorts and t-shirts to winter coats and rain gear, and hopefully back to 70s again tomorrow. Philly weather really keeps everyone on their toes—and dog owners feel it most, getting out there no matter what the forecast looks like.

At least the cherry blossoms are holding strong, catching the light and giving us those little reminders that spring is still trying to stick around.

A true winter wonderland in Rittenhouse—fluffy white resting on tree branches, dogs chasing fleeting snowballs, kids sledding, shovels out on every corner. How did you spend your snow day?
