Welcome to Season Two, Episode Seven of the Moor Thoughts Podcast — a monthly series dedicated to exploring the rich and expansive world of ambient music, along with the vibrant community that surrounds it. Each episode features in-depth conversations with artists, composers, and curators who are shaping the sound and philosophy of ambient music today.

In this episode, we’re delighted to welcome Jakub Bujakowski, aka Port Sleep. Jakub has been creating music under the Port Sleep alias since 2023, slowly but steadily building an impressive body of work. His latest release, As Long as This Warmth Remains, was released on Seil Records earlier this year to critical acclaim.

Our conversation spans a wide range of topics, including Jakub’s musical evolution — from his early involvement in rock bands as a teenager to his experiments with modular synthesis. We also discuss the meaning behind the Port Sleep project, as well as his experiences navigating music and fatherhood.

Our sincere thanks to Jakub for joining us for this instalment of the Moor Thoughts Podcast. It was a genuine pleasure to explore the ideas, influences, and creative journey behind his work.

It’s time to share this week’s new blog post…
I’m pleased to share a new episode of Dispatches from the Ambient Label Hub!

As a recap, these episodes rotate either Adrian Newton of @evergreenmusicuk Andrew Heath (Driftworks), James Osland (Elm) or I over the course of an hour’s runtime. Each month the show starts with a challenge set by a presenter in the previous month’s show. Then in the second half, the other presenter picks up with a range of Ambient sounds from the wider scene.

So in this show, which aired on Pyrenees-based @listen.camp last week, Andrew had the challenge of presenting Ambient music centred around field recordings. Then James shares a sublime set of recent discoveries.

This week’s blog post is the return of a quarterly radio show I do called Vervine.

In these 2 hour shows, I share a mix of the music I’ve been enjoying lately, with no limit of genre. So you’ll often hear Ambient music placed alongside Jazz, Modern Classical, World music, Electronica, Folk, Post Rock and everything in between.

In this one I’ve included two early premieres of music I have lined up in August - a piece from Finnish artists Aki Yli-Salomäki & @kreetajuliaheikkila as well as a preview of a track from the next @dionisaf_music album.

📻 to give the show a listen, click the link in the bio and select either ‘Bandcamp’ or ‘Substack’

I’ve recently had a pleasure to do the finalisation (often referred to as Mastering) of new @portsleep ambient album. It was a pure pleasure and honor to do it. Material I got was such a high quality my main goal was to retain its dynamics and beauty while trying to add this last 10% of glue.

Album is released by amazing @seilrecords ! Go check - it’s worth it!

Today is the last day to name your price for the album via bandcamp and if you care for a little nostalgia pick up the cassette!
