Finished a beautiful test for @postcard_knits last night, just in time for an upcoming trip to Korea. My colors were inspired by a house down the street from me, and it was so much fun making another knit that pays homage to the city I love so much. Now just praying it dries before we leave!

Pattern: Bernal Sweater by @postcard_knits

Slowly working my way through 2 beautiful colorwork garments. Colorwork is my favorite type of knitting and it’s been really lovely to slow down and watch these whimsical pieces come to life.

the rooftop sweater released a week ago today! this fun textured knit is designed to be made by any skill level, imo. it’s a drop shoulder construction and the only real “trick” is relearning the pattern once you’re knitting in the round! i set mine down for about a week once i joined in the round so i’d have time to forget everything and learn the pattern anew 😂 i’ve only steam blocked it thus far, but i’m excited to see how it relaxes in a wet block as well. i made this with @purlsoho cashmere merino bloom (20% cashmere, 80% merino wool) and now i’m jonesing to use it again. the color once again proves that i’m a soft summer.

had the time of my life getting to know 19 strangers on a goat farm in Vermont 🤎 still unpacking (literally, metaphorically, emotionally) from 6 days filled with fiber, friends, and food. it was so special to meet 2 of my favorite designers irl and make my virtual friends a reality. i came for the knitting, but the bonds we built while weathering a nor’easter in the woods are what will stick with me forever 🍁🧶🪾🐐🐑 and, of course, Richard.

on this retreat hosted by @violentcatlady and @izzygknits, we visited @greenmtnspinnery, green mountain orchards, other local shops, the putney farmers market, @wonderlandyarns in Brattleboro, and the @bigpicturefarm store. we met the goats who live on the land where we stayed, and had a private buying session with @knitordyewoolery in house. over the course of the weekend, we bought 346 skeins of yarn… we spent a lot of time indoors yapping, learning about fiber and the wool industry, trying out drop spinning and e-spinning, and making more inside jokes than i can count. can’t wait for the reunion in 2027 (if kevin allows it)
