And that’s a wrap on PINCH & OUCH, our 7-Day Scene Work Workshop in Delhi! ❤️

Coming back to Delhi to teach after two years felt special in a way that’s difficult to put into words.

This is where I first found my way into theatre. Where so much of my journey as an actor began. And for the longest time, I’ve wanted to come back, not just to revisit a place that means so much to me, but to share some of what the years since have taught me.

And then came these seven days.

The room was alive with questions, curiosity, generosity, and a willingness to try things without necessarily knowing where they might lead. There was so much openness in the way everyone approached the work, so much enthusiasm, and so many moments that reminded me why I love doing this in the first place. It made me want to give everything I had to the room, and then somehow find a little more.

I’ve also been exploring the meeting points between Michael Chekhov’s and Sanford Meisner’s approaches to acting. How do imagination, physicality, and atmosphere meet the act of truly listening and responding to another person? What can one approach reveal about the other?

This workshop gave me another opportunity to sit with these questions, experiment, and discover alongside the actors. I came in with things I wanted to share, but I’m leaving with newer questions, unexpected discoveries, and a renewed excitement about the work. There’s still so much to investigate, so much to get wrong, and so much to stumble upon. And I think that’s one of the loveliest things about working with a craft that never quite lets you arrive.

To everyone who showed up for these seven days with such sincerity, thank you for making the room what it was.

I came back to Delhi hoping to give something back to a city that has given me so much. I’m leaving with even more affection for it, a head full of thoughts, a heart full of love, and a stomach full of chaat and kachoris.

The workshop draws from the *Sanford Meisner* and *Michael Chekhov* approaches, and for me, the meeting point between the two is something I keep coming back to, being fully available to what is happening, while allowing the imagination to shift what is happening.

And somewhere in that, the scene comes alive.

That’s the space I want to explore with you.

THIS OCTOBER, TWO WAYS INTO THE ACTING WORK.

Anatomy of a Scene brings two different intensives with Manas Gupta, FTII alumnus, to Delhi.

One looks inward. WHAT MOVES US explores impulse, imagination, improvisation and the things that begin to move inside us before we have the chance to think them through.

The other looks at what happens between two people. PINCH & OUCH is seven days of scene work, listening, reacting, getting surprised, messing things up and beginning again.

WHAT MOVES US

10th & 11th October | 10 AM to 2 PM
The Trialogue Studio, Mayur Vihar

A 2 day acting intensive for actors, non actors and storytellers.

We’ll explore:

• Improvisation
• Mental Monologue
• Images & imagination
• Impulse
• Presence & play

What happens when you follow an impulse instead of judging it?

What can an image reveal that words cannot?

What happens when you allow yourself to be surprised?

Two days to experiment, play, follow impulses, and get a little out of our heads.

Four batches. Two workshops. So many different people, energies, questions, and ways of being in a room.

*Between Us* and *The Body Knows* began as two different explorations, but somewhere along the way, they became a reminder of why I love this work, and why I keep returning to it.

There’s a particular kind of joy in watching people arrive with their own histories, hesitations, and ways of moving through the world, and then slowly begin to discover something new through simply allowing themselves to be present.

And every batch leaves something behind. In the room, in the work, and in me.

Pune, thank you for these four rooms. For the openness, the trust, the laughter, the silences, and everything we got to discover together.

I’m still carrying a little bit of each one with me.

Still learning. Still making. Still finding my way into this work. 🤍

'परिंदा कैद पिंजरे में, उसे डर आसमान का है'

Exactly one year and nine months ago today, I resigned from my seven-year-long permanent job as a theatre teacher in a school to pursue my dream of becoming an actor.

People might see only these 1.9 years, but for me it's been 13 years to get here.

I don't even know how these last one year and nine months have passed. It's very emotional for me to say this, but to be honest, I have seen it all. And maybe, a lot is still waiting for me.

I am writing this today because I came across a few photos from a workshop I attended. Hands down to the best facilitator @pragyaj_jain. I saw my own eyes in those photos and I remembered how I used to look out of the window of that school, watching the birds fly, and feeling that somewhere, I belong on the other side.

That moment made me realise... no matter what happens, sometimes all you need is that one step. To finally say, yes, I want to do it. For some people, it's about winning the race but for some, it's about just reaching the starting line first.

In these one year and nine months, I have been part of multiple ad campaigns, I made my debut with an international film (thoda sa boast karna allowed hota hai), I was part of a much-acclaimed series as a lead (Lavender ke chalte itna pyaar mila hai ki mai kya hi bataun?), I did short films that are still running in festivals, I did theatre and so much more. It all feels like yesterday and you know what? I am still Alive.

So wherever you are reading this... today is the day. Go for it. It's not about making the right or wrong decision, it's about deciding now and making it happen. It's not about whether you'll reach or not, it's about starting right now. Everything you desire is just one step away. One step at a time, and it will happen. Trust yourself. Trust god. Be grateful. And no matter what happens, never ever stop dreaming.
