I sat down recently with John Dye for a Union Tapes interview, where we talked about our crew’s first trip to the UK and Europe, old FBM video soundtracks and lots of behind the scenes nonsense.
What we didn’t talk about was that trips fuel card sponsorship courtesy of Mike Tag, or trading shitty tattoos in a Hackney basement at Volt BMX - but it was fun catching up and having a laugh with an old friend.
The photo spread from that wild trip ran in Ride US - shot by @forgash_unofficial - check it out on the @bicycleunion page…

I can’t believe the first time I went to Hastings was around 26 years ago. I guess that means I’m old but also means we’re still doing this bmx stuff, and that rules. It was great seeing everyone and I should’ve taken more photos. Thanks for letting me be a part of this jam celebrating an old friend. #sometimesrampshaveakink 🤦‍♂️🤷

Why do downsides look so damn good from any angle?! Everything about this image. Bike. Rider. Audience. Spike Jonze really did us a service with these images. @garypollakbmx, 1990 2hip KOV finals. Gary placed 1st in Am, followed by in order of: Byers 2nd, Laurent, Dyrenforth, Adler, Guiterrez, Mirra, Krackau. #bmx #bmxvert #downsidecancan. Excuse the image cut off, insta’s aspect ratio sucks.
