Who are you writing to, and why do you still write?

It sounds like a simple question, yet most participants take more than a single sheet of paper to answer it.

Yesterday at @rentakmalaysiaku_gmbb , we welcomed individuals, pairs of friends, small groups, and families who joined our writing circle.

Moving beyond a quick note on the go, the writing circle invites a gentler, more deliberate pace for letters. By stepping away and sitting down together at the tables, participants gave themselves a quiet pause—allowing the time and focus needed to truly turn inward and converse with themselves.

Regardless of length, format, or the absence of words, every contribution finds its place. All collected letters will be compiled into a book (non-profit, not for sale) printed in limited copies, available exclusively for on-site reading during the In Other Words exhibition in November, at GMBB!

Malaysia Day is just around the corner, and we will be welcoming it with our own celebration Rentak MalaysiaKu: Slice of Life!

Kicking off this weekend all the way to 16 Sep, it will feature exhibitions, performances, workshops, special activities, pop-ups, demos and screenings, all with the theme 'Slice of Life'.

If you haven't been to a pasar in a while, Rentak MalaysiaKu's pasar vibe will offer slices of Malaysia for you. With things like Rasa Pasar, Immersio 2026, A Slice of Malaysia, and many more, we hope you will be able to discover more about what really makes Malaysia, Malaysia.

There will also be plenty of grand openings - doki doki (our first stationery store!), a graffiti cafe, and Puzzle Planet amongst others. Of course, the usual weekend fare like the Saturday Storytelling Session and Darkroom Workshop Series are also available.

It's going to be great. Jumpa nanti!

This weekend at Rentak MalaysiaKu, you can sketch a moment, write a letter, share your work-in-progress in a writing circle, collect a few stickers along the way, watch some Bornean short films or maybe even get a (temporary) bunga terung tattoo.

We’ve curated a handful of special activities to help you slow down and experience the weekend in your own way, and at your own time. Some are quieter and more reflective, others are more communal. Discover for yourself what your slice of life is.

We're hosting an open discussion about local space activation with @primaryexhibitions on 16 September! (Malaysia Day, Wednesday public holiday)

—

Finding the right space for a project is a shared hurdle for many of us. We're hosting an open discussion to hear how different practitioners approach this, and to talk about the ongoing challenges of finding room for our work.

The hope is to share knowledge on how we might rethink alternative or underutilized spaces. It’s also just a time to talk about unrealized projects, share works in progress, and see how we can offer support to one another's practices.

If you're an independent curator, designer, producer, or exhibition maker, we'd love to have you join the conversation.

Date: 16 Sep 2026
Time: 11.00 am - 2.00 pm
📍SS 1/32, PJ, Kuala Lumpur

Our first event! We're bringing our network together in a two day reading room, alongside an open discussion on 16 Sep, to build the conversation around alternative/underutilised spaces, public knowledge, and creating a supportive space to talk about works in construction.

📕💭 The pop up reading room, also called an 𝙄𝙙𝙚𝙖 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮, is open to the public from 15-16 Sep 2026 (Malaysia Day Public Holiday), from 11.00am to 8.00pm!

This time round, we're showing books and creative publications related to exhibition management, curatorial practices, space design, and the broader field of the arts.

📝💬 On 16 Sep 2026, from 11.00am to 2.00pm, our open discussion titled "Building Grounds: Non-Places and Spaces for the Arts" will be hosted Haymie Yu @doubleyuxyandz and Danielle Lin @daniellelinart . The discussion is open to public, bust RSVP through link in bio is mandatory!

📍15-16 Sep 2026, 11am-2pm, @singgahbangau (92, Jalan SS 1/32, PJ, KL)

My coda for Untitled exhibition. Heart still singing. My piece landed in Calgary wrapped in love notes from Kuala Lumpur, and I swear the joy punched straight through my soul. @jakobvanklang and @daniellelinart —your world‑class curation, your care, your fierce championing of every artist? Unmatched. I’m lit up, grateful, and inspired by you.

Dropping this here so I can look back whenever I miss them. Huhu excuse me for the late post.

What I truly gain is that there's something about working among passionate people who truly care about creativity. It was incredibly eye-opening to have these long, deep talking sessions filled with wisdom and genuinely good advice. Knowing I was the youngest, I took everything that was said and will hold it close to my heart. I don’t think I’ll ever find another team that has this much passion, yet remains so caring and loving towards one another.

Again, thank youuu, Danielle, for giving me this one-in-a-million opportunity to be a part of an amazing art exhibition that is evolving and changing where the art industry is heading. You opened my eyes to how much this industry still lacks in terms of taking care of its artists, yet you came through with this brilliant exhibition that could truly be the start of a game-changer.

Can't wait for Untitled 2.0! Cheers to the whole team, may you all achieve everything you’re striving for. Much love from meee ♥️♥️

I received the parcel from Untitled Exhibition team today :) Finally get to see the messages left for my artworks. Thank you very much my lovely patrons. (Oh the mistery…) You made my day. Maybe I do have a tiny place in the art world 😝 I will keep creating.

I received the lovely exhibition book. Firstly for the memory of participating, but more importantly I can look back at other artworks and artist infos also. Maybe with more rizk and fulus I can get their art also later.

For the memory :) I didnt send in artist statement because it was optional 😝

Another page.

Thank you and congratulations to everyone involved! I gained a lot of new friends and able to follow a lot of amazing artists.

These went to the wall for memories.

Untitled was simply all about placing the artwork first, and old perceptions last. We were overwhelmed by the support from our artists and our visitors, and now the time has come to reveal the stars of our exhibition. Ranging from traditional techniques to experimental works, this line-up is definitely nothing to sleep on. Let’s keep the support for human art alive.

I thought I was curating an exhibition together with my team.

It turned out that I was also curating something very precious: the perfect collaborative workplace.

In today’s essay, Danielle Lin reflects on UNTITLED, not just as an exhibition, but as an experiment in kindness, collaboration and care.

What we really need to do is smile at them and let them contribute to the conversation.

Read the full essay here https://www.artomovement.com/2026/06/curating-untitled-when-kindness-opens.html or click the link on our website.

Happy reading and Salam Awal Muharram!
