“It is moving to hear these young voices”
— AllMusic

Lark Perry of the @kinderhspva Chorale shares her perspective on Marcus Maroney’s (@mkmaroney) The Color Blue, an Apollo commission bringing students’ reflections on democracy into song, performed with the Chorale under the direction of Marcus Jauregui (@heyheyitsmrj).

Our ninth studio album, We the People, celebrates America’s 250th anniversary through new commissions and musical perspectives on democracy, resilience, peace, and cultural harmony. Many of these works premiered during our past two seasons and are now available to listeners worldwide.

More than 85 individuals, including 30 Kinder HSPVA students, contributed to Apollo’s largest and most intergenerational collaborative project. An album celebrating We the People, created by so many interwoven voices.

In this intimate and personal conversation at the historic Orpheum Theatre last week, Maestra Gemma New spoke about her early memory of classical music, how she began conducting, and how she continues protecting that spark & love for music in her.

Thank you Gemma for sharing!

As we come to the final weekend of Grammy voting, this is what we hope In Her Hands leaves with you: a little more moved, a little more inspired, and perhaps a little more aware of whose voices we hear—and whose we still need to make room for.

These women had so much to say. Their music reminds us how much we stand to gain when we truly listen, especially to voices that have been overlooked, underestimated, or unheard.

That’s what this album means to us. Not just celebrating the women who came before us, but carrying their voices forward.

Thank you for listening, for being moved by this music, and for helping it find its way into the world. ❤️

We’re so incredibly proud of this album, a perfect encapsulation of the 15-year collaboration between the @asmf_orchestra and Music Director Joshua Bell. Together, we reached beyond the virtuosic demands of Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1 to reveal the work’s operatic drama, charm and wit.
