I started an online meditation gathering called Take Care… but I haven’t done a great job at letting people know it exists…😎
So here’s a little note about it!
It’s v low key.
It’s only 30 min. (I know that sounds like a long time but I promise you it flies by!)
I guide you through an embodiment practice typically consisting of some combo of breath work, mindfulness, and visualization. It’s designed to be something you can do at your desk, but you can join from wherever. (Do not recommend a moving vehicle🚳)

When I taught yoga, my favorite parts of class were the beginning and end … those few yummy moments of stillness, reconnection and presence.
Take Care is just a little way for me to give back. It’s free and it happens the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Mourning Reflection…

Grief is political.💛

As October unfolds, families continue to suffer and to mourn across the diaspora. We’ve reached 1095 days (+75yrs) of relentless terror and devastation perpetrated by the state of Israel in the name of Zionism. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed and a land and culture is being explicitly targeted, decimated, erased. Since my post made at the one-year mark, we’ve seen the same colonial agenda further decimating Gaza, targeting The West Bank, Lebanon, Iran, Syria, and Yemen, all the while, justifying the killing of citizens in all these lands.

As Miss Rachel @msrachelforlittles said today, I’m thinking about Israeli and Palestinian children — and children in all these lands being attacked — children who have been failed by power-hungry tyrants whose first responsibility should have been to keep them safe from violence, trauma, and death.

It’s critical that we recognize that the suffering of men, women and children who are marginalized, dehumanized, and violated by colonial, imperialist powers around the globe is all connected.

As a social worker, it is impossible for me to practice in this corner of the world without understanding how the suffering and the grief that exists in the hearts of those who enter my office is deeply connected to the suffering and grief of those around the globe who are in pain, who are oppressed, who feel unseen, unheard, dismissed, unsupported and untended by the world around them.

I understand that speaking up publicly in these tumultuous times and within a colonized land isn’t easy or comfortable, is risky, and can be viewed as dissent. But, I’ve accepted that risk all along, and I very clearly do dissent. I do condemn the genocidal actions of a state that perceives its rights as superseding the human rights and peace of another, and I condemn using that perception as justification for the violent decimation of a land and its people. It does not align with my social work practice ethics and values to stand by silently.

Freelance Diaries | Working Holiday Edition🌊

Working from Devon sounded VERY cute in my head…

A couple of hours on the laptop in the morning, then off to enjoy the day with my family. Easy!

Yeah… turns out not quite! 😂

My sister is also one of my clients, so one minute we’re planning our day, the next we’re chatting website changes over a cup of tea. I do love that I get to work with her though ❤️

I LOVE the freedom freelancing gives me, but balancing work with actually enjoying that freedom is definitely something I’m still figuring out.

All part of learning how to do this full-time freelance thing! 😅

Other freelancers, please tell me I’m not the only one who finds it really hard to properly switch off when you go away? 👀

On this month’s @21andsensorypodcast I have the wonderful Meg Fatharly @printcessmeg on as my special guest. Meg is a Cornwall-based artist who creates stunning embossed metal artwork, paper collages, art prints, keepsake cards and decorations for collectors, galleries and independent shops ✨

I had the absolute joy of chatting to meg about such a range of topics including all things late diagnosis as a neurodivergent person, working as an artist and freelancer, the internet and sharing her work and her brilliant sense of humour that comes through so much in both her work and I think in these episodes too!

(And yes I said episodes because we had SO much to chat about this is a two part release!)

As a fellow freelancer in the creative industry I found my conversation with Meg really relatable - her journey and her honesty on the mix of highs and lows that come with a creative career but also juggling late diagnoses and mental health are really important.

Also just need to add that Megs enthusiasm and love for all things arty is just such a delight to hear (and her laugh is SO infectious!)

for years i used to keep a journal of favorite quotes, verses, etc and last week i found one of those journals. peak joy!!!!

i need to get back writing favorites down because i just love words. they’re so beautiful. powerful. and they always seem to hit when you didn’t know what you were looking for. that light, laugh, glimmer, inspo, a moment to felt seen or heard. to those that share their words with us, thank you.

Unbelievably tired, but so so grateful for a weekend of LOVE.

If you don’t have @dealbraderie and @ramsgatefestivalofsound in your diaries for 2027, get them in there. How lucky we are to have such brilliant events so close. So proud of @therealdietjesus for providing all the charm and tunes at the former. Jesse’s first (and second) gig. We love you!

Congrats also to @samanthatretton and @jamie5826 on NOT getting married, but throwing the best bash. There’s a real good reason that my feet are so sore ❤️

Off to London for some London Design Festival action tomorrow and have not planned anything, so hit me up if you’ve seen something I might like!
