This product is not new but it is new to us and being the first time we have used it so far I am impressed with @proclimaau adhero vista. We are currently extending upwards on a existing dwelling and being able to seal our subfloor from water ingress with out having to use a tarp or liquid membrane is a great peace of mind.

Pretty awesome what you can get done on site in a few weeks. Ready for HRV rough in tomorrow while we wrap externally and onto internal lockup. Massive push now for November to see how far we can get this before Christmas 👏

Welcome to our Program Partner, pro clima 👋

We're excited to have @proclimaau on board as Program Partner of International Passivhaus Open Days 2026.

Airtightness and moisture control are at the heart of every Passivhaus. pro clima's membrane and tape systems help buildings achieve both, so they stay healthy, comfortable and energy efficient for decades.

From 13–15 November, experience Passivhaus first-hand. 40+ projects across 7 states, from completed homes to buildings under construction, are open to the public, with 95+ sessions to choose from.

It's free to attend. Don't miss your chance to step inside these projects and meet the people who designed and built them.

“Do you want mould in your next home?”

Obviously, the answer is no. But in humid climates, most people are living with drafts, noise, dust, and constant mould, assuming that’s just “normal.”

Jimmy Oldham joined us to chat about building June Building from the ground up, bringing Passive House principles into a market that isn’t necessarily asking for the badge, and why fixing real living problems beats talking about tech specs every time.

We get into:
- The reality of retrofits vs. new builds
- Why builders underquote labour on high-performance details
- Reading PHPP to spot overheating risks before you build

Yesterday marked an important milestone at Project Mustang, with the preliminary blower door test completed ahead of plaster 🔨

Conducted by a third party (Efficiency Matrix), the preliminary blower door test is a critical step in the passive house certification process. Measuring the airtightness of the building envelope by creating a pressure difference between the inside and outside of the home.

Undertaken pre-plaster, it allows air leakage points to be identified and rectified before plaster is hung.

We are proud to announce that we achieved an excellent result, providing a strong baseline for the final test and greater margin as construction progresses 🎉

Healthier homes, happier clients. 🏡

That's the focus for Sam and the team at @samadhibuilds, a boutique Brisbane builder. 🏡

On this build, Bretts supplied the LVL framing, @proclimaau wrap and aluminium windows and doors, from hinged doors and sliders to big stacker louvres. 🏗️

Have you made the switch to LVL framing on your jobs yet?

If you’re still fixing cladding directly to your wall wrap, it’s probably time to rethink how you’re building.

Ventilated cavities have been used overseas for decades, yet we’re only just starting to see them become more common here in Australia.

The idea is pretty simple. Give moisture somewhere to drain and allow the wall to dry out, rather than trapping it behind the cladding.

It’s not a new concept, and there’s really no reason it shouldn’t be standard practice by now.

Wrapping, taping and installing cavity systems to your homes roof and walls is a must if you want a house that will stay dry and breathe.✅
Allowing moisture to exit from the inside and stops moisture entering from the outside.
A home that is correctly wrapped and ventilated is a higher preforming home and a healthy home.🌿

All the attention goes on the walls. Almost none of it goes on the roof.

Walk onto most residential sites and you will see genuine care taken wrapping and sealing the walls, and then you look up and all of that discipline disappears at the roof. For the part of the home that cops the most weather, it is often the least protected thing on the whole building. That has never made sense to us.

A roof is not a different problem to a wall. It is the same problem tilted on an angle, and if anything it takes more punishment. Rain, hail, relentless sun and big temperature swings all land on it first.

Here is the part people do not want to accept. No roof cladding is perfect and none of it lasts forever. Given enough time, water will find its way past it. That is not a defect, it is just reality. So the only question that actually matters is what is sitting underneath to deal with the water when it gets in.

This is where foil insulation and sarking let you down completely. Honestly they are a waste of time and a waste of money. They do not shed water, they hold it, and once moisture is trapped up in the roof with nowhere to go you are on the road to condensation, rot and mould in the one part of the home you can never easily inspect. You have paid for something that is doing next to nothing, and quietly creating problems while it is at it.

So we treat the roof exactly like we treat the walls. A proper water resistant barrier to keep the structure dry, and a drained and vented cavity above it so any moisture that does get past the cladding has a clear path to escape and dry out.

Your roof works harder than any other part of your home. It should be built like it.

“You don’t need triple glazing in Melbourne.” But what’s the basis for that claim?

As Cameron Munro explains, glazing requirements depend on the specifics of each project, including orientation, glazing ratio and the client’s performance goals.

Double glazing can achieve Passivhaus certification in Melbourne, but it may not be suitable for every design.

The key is understanding what you’re trying to achieve and making decisions based on the performance requirements of your project.
