Lots of people are saying climate change, while real, isn’t something worth worrying about anymore. To back it up, many are citing the retirement of the worst-case climate scenario, RCP 8.5.

But what does the retirement of that scenario actually mean? Is climate change still worth worrying about? And if it is, why does it seem like so many people are saying the opposite?

We spoke to climate scientist Dr. Kate Marvel of @projectdrawdown and Philip Newell of Climate Action Against Disinformation (@caadcoalition) to get the answers. Comment “RCP” and I’ll send you the link to the full podcast.

Fighting climate change requires more than renewable energy. It also means rethinking the way we grow, distribute, and consume food.

Jonathan Foley, Executive Director of Project Drawdown ( @projectdrawdown ), connects climate science with practical solutions that can make a real-world difference.

Reducing food waste is one opportunity to improve our food systems while advancing broader climate goals. The solutions exist—the challenge is scaling them.

They call it waste. I see possibility. 🌱♻️

My PGC journey begins with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production — turning waste into value and ideas into action for a greener future.

This is my why. 🌍✨

💚 REDUCE FOOD LOSS & WASTE 💚

🔥 What gets me going:
- 3.64% global emissions reduction on 20-yr basis
- All these solutions 🤗 = an orgy of opportunity

🌹 Im most passionate about:
- Saving people money
- Increasing food security
- Conserving land and water resources and improve biodiversity
- Helping people adapt to extreme weather events

🤩 I’m looking for:
- Boundaries. Policy that puts guidelines on where, when, how food can be disposed of!

I thought buying less was enough. Then I looked closer. 👀🧵

I already buy only around 5–7 new pieces of clothing a year. So, for this challenge, I wanted to look beyond shopping and question something I hadn’t thought about enough: how I care for the clothes I already own.

From synthetic microfibres released during washing to the water, electricity and detergent we use, a garment’s footprint doesn’t end at checkout.

For the next 30 days, I’m committing to washing smarter, using a microfiber-catching solution for my activewear, choosing detergent more thoughtfully, repairing before replacing, and encouraging others to rethink their own habits.

I’m not aiming for a perfect wardrobe. I’m aiming to make more intentional choices with the one I already have.

I can’t change what my sport requires. I can change how I care for it.🌱

What if the next step in sustainable fashion isn’t buying something new, but making what we already own last longer?

YOUR CLOTHES HAVE A HIDDEN SIDE. TODAY, I’M SHOWING MINE. 👕🌍

My Jockey t-shirt is 100% cotton, made in India. But the label doesn’t tell me the whole story — the water behind the cotton, the impact of production, or the people behind every stitch.

So, I wore it inside out. Because fashion has a side we wear, and a side we rarely question.

For me, this isn’t about making clothes look different. It’s about thinking differently before I buy, choosing to wear what I own for longer, and remembering that the planet shouldn’t pay the price for our trends.

FLIP THE CLOTHES. QUESTION THE SYSTEM. RETHINK FASHION.🌱

What if we looked beyond the label before looking for the next trend?

I started this journey thinking I was learning about the climate crisis. I didn’t expect it to make me question my own choices so deeply. 🌍
From my ecological and water footprints to waste, consumption, and climate justice, PGC has made me realise that sustainability isn’t just about what the world needs to change.
It’s also about what I’m willing to change.
I’m still learning. I’m still questioning. And I definitely don’t have all the answers.
But I know this now: I don’t have to change everything to be part of change. I just have to start—and bring others with me.
The story is still being written.
And I want my choices to be part of a better chapter.

We don’t notice a water crisis until there’s no water left to ignore. 💧

While researching the Coca-Cola–Kaladera conflict, I learned that groundwater depletion isn’t just about numbers—it can affect livelihoods, access, and everyday life. What stayed with me most was realizing that environmental solutions cannot be decided for communities; they have to be built with them.

For me, that means monitoring groundwater, setting responsible extraction limits, investing in rainwater harvesting and recharge, and giving communities a real voice.🌱
