Learning, collaborating, and growing together! 📚💪

This month’s team continuing education was led by Dr. Rodney, PT, DPT, TPI, who walked us through thoracic spine and rib anatomy, key bony landmarks, movement assessments, and hands-on mobilization techniques to sharpen our clinical skills.

We then transitioned into our Lunch & Learn, bringing together five clinicians for an open discussion on running shoes and how we guide our patients toward the right choices. 👟

Our biggest takeaway? It’s not just about recommending a shoe. It’s about understanding WHY someone is looking for a new shoe, identifying the root cause of their concerns, and assessing how biomechanics, strength, mobility, and running mechanics can influence their needs.

At Pro+Kinetix, we believe some of the best clinical growth happens through collaboration. By sharing perspectives, challenging each other’s clinical reasoning, and learning from clinicians across our locations, we continue to elevate the care we provide.

Different clinical backgrounds, shared knowledge, and one goal: better outcomes for our patients. 🙌

POV: You’ve foam rolled your shoulder every night for the last 3 weeks… and it STILL pinches. 😅
Here’s the thing: tightness doesn’t always mean you need more mobility.

If that pinch keeps coming back when you press overhead, bench, throw, reach, or train, the problem may not be something you can “roll out.”

We’re so excited to welcome Dr. Lula Berhe, PT, DPT, to the Pro+Kinetix San Diego team! ❤️‍🔥 
Born and raised in San Diego, Lula’s passion for movement started early through track & field, volleyball, and martial arts. That background shaped her passion for helping athletes and active humans get out of pain, build strength, move better, and confidently return to the things they love. 
Lula combines evidence-based rehab with strength & conditioning principles, with a focus on movement quality, biomechanics, injury prevention, and long-term performance. Whether you’re a youth athlete, weekend warrior, or competitive athlete, she’s here to help you keep pushing toward your goals. 🚀 
And she’s already starting her first week with something worth celebrating! 🎉 Lula’s research, “Relationships Between Early-Stage Functional Kinematics and Psychological Outcomes Following ACLR,” was accepted for a poster presentation at the PRiSM (Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine Society) 2027 Annual Meeting!

Outside the clinic, you can find Lula strength training, at the beach with her Goldendoodle, chasing sunsets, spending time with family, or cheering on her fantasy football team. 🌅🐶🏈

Rehab with Shayla

Shayla is a former competitive soccer players that hasn’t been able to go 3-4 months without picking up an injury. She had been dealing primarily with multiple rectus femoris strains, but has history of 2 hamstring strains, meniscectomy, and hip and low back pain. All of these injuries are all on her right side.

What stood out to me when listening to Shayla’s story is how poorly underloaded her prior rehab experiences were, and how quickly she was cleared to return playing without ever having progressively conditioned her body to meet the demand of sports.

One of the biggest risk factor for future injuries is whether you had the same injury in the past. This is a non-modifiable risk factor as previous injuries have already occurred, but how well you manage an injury can minimize the risk of reoccurring.

At @prokinetix we have the equipment, space, and understanding of what it takes to ensure you are as prepared as possible.

Timelines don’t mean much if you didn’t had the chance to build the capacity needed to meet training and sports demands.

It’s pretty amazing to be surrounded by a team that shows up every day with so much pride in what we do and what we’re building together. Every single person here has played a part in getting us to where we are today.

I couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come and even more excited for what’s ahead. ✨🔥
