What makes Pittsburg so special? The sense of community!

At Pitt State, international students find more than a university. They find a welcoming community that makes them feel at home, even when they are far from their own countries.

Last weekend, Pastor Keunsik Lee, along with congregation Korean Love United Methodist Church, organized a wonderful trip to Silver Dollar City for Pitt State international students from Korea, Paraguay, and Taiwan!🇵🇾🇹🇼🇰🇷

The students enjoyed a tun day together and a delicious meal at Bawi Korean BBQ in Springfield, Missouri.

This is what makes Pittsburg special! A community that welcomes and supports our international students while creating meaningful experiences for them.

A special thank you to Pastor Lee and the church community for their kindness, generosity, and continued support of our Gorillas!

Pitt State student Gabriela Mongelos, a junior from Paraguay pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, was selected through a statewide competition to perform in a masterclass led by legendary pianist Jerome Lowenthal of The Juilliard School.

The masterclass was held Saturday, Sept. 19, at Wichita State University as part of the Kansas Music Teachers Association State Conference. Gabriela, who studies piano with Dr. Reena Natenberg at Pittsburg State University, performed the first movement of Beethoven’s Sonata, Op. 22.

Being selected to perform in the masterclass provided Gabriela with an opportunity to share her musical talents with fellow musicians and receive instruction from one of the world’s renowned piano educators and performers.

Gabriela’s achievement highlights the exceptional talent and dedication of Pitt State’s international students and the opportunities available to students pursuing music at the university.
