Haters are gonna say the colors aren’t real. 😂

What’s wild is that the colors were so intense, even the sky on the opposite side from the sunset was on fire. Those shots with the dunes? Looking AWAY from the sun!

And we almost missed it.

As sunset approached, the scattered clouds bunched together into a thick blanket, and we figured we were about to get skunked. The sun would briefly peek out underneath, shine us right in the faces, and disappear. (See the last few pics.)

We almost walked away.

Instead, we stood there shivering, wondering if the clouds might light up after sunset.

The sun went down.

Nothing.

Two minutes later, the entire sky EXPLODED.

For the next ten minutes, we had an absolutely unreal, 360-degree light show. Every direction, every cloud, every reflection in the wet sand. Just ridiculous.

So thankful @tylerserf was willing to freeze with me, chase reflections, and soak his pants doing the zoomies across the beach. 💪

Sometimes work takes you to some pretty spectacular places.

A few days in British Columbia meant meetings and site visits in Whistler and Vancouver—but also predawn alarms, a camera always within reach, fall colors, mountain lakes, a couple of hikes, and every excuse I could find to pull over along the Sea-to-Sky Highway. It was a huge bummer @jenserfass couldn’t join this trip and a huge thanks to my Canadian counterpart @jen1green2021 for hosting these meetings of our United Biogas Alliance and maritime fueling friends.

The reward for one particularly early start was a gorgeous sunrise reflected across a nearly empty lake in Whistler with @chrispy2791. On the drive back to Vancouver, I stumbled onto Porteau Cove and somehow had that incredible stretch of Howe Sound almost entirely to myself. Just spectacular.

From mountain lakes and Olympic rings to ports, infrastructure and a great group of people to experience it all with, this was one of those work trips where the hours around the work were every bit as memorable as the work itself.

British Columbia, we’ll be back. 🇨🇦

Postcards from Stone Harbor this week. 🏖️ ⛵️ 🌊

The @indycar #Freedom250.

Maybe it was the perfect weather.

Maybe it was finally getting to enjoy what all those weeks of insanely annoying disruptions and road closures were for.

Maybe it was showing up without tickets—and, the night before, randomly meeting Kevin and Christy, whose sons couldn’t come, and who gave us their extras.

Maybe it was because @danielwale1 and the @steinbrennerracing team have turned us into fervent IndyCar fans.

Maybe it was the SEVEN flyovers that made the whole thing feel like an airshow and a race rolled into one.

Maybe it was because, regardless of politics, one-time events in DC have a way of feeling historic—and making you grateful you were there to witness them.

Maybe it was because everyone we met all day was just so darn friendly and happy to be there.

Or maybe it was all of it.

Whatever it was, @gman.2341 and I had an absolutely incredible day. Life memories made. ✅🇺🇸🏎️✈️

Thanks @tylerserf and @jenserfass for catalyzing an epic night. David Grohl, you are a madman and we love it. Full throttle for 3 hours. 💪🤘❤️

Tyler got me Foo Fighters tickets for Father’s Day, which was already going to make this a 10/10 night. Then @jgallitano came down to join the fun and take @gman.2341, and suddenly 10 wasn’t enough.

Because sometimes blokes will be at 10, all the way up, but where can you go from there?

This one went to 11. 🤘

Foo Fighters. A great funcle. The boys. Fireworks over Nats Park. One louder.

We finally made it to @ontheoceanfest!

@guster promised us something magical. They delivered: great music, a packed field (but not too packed—perfect), an absurd Maine sunset, and Ryan Miller floating by on a pool chaise. Unforgettable.

Yeah. We get it now.

We’ll be back!

One hour on top of Bald Rock.

The 4:30 alarm wasn’t exactly welcome.

But a promising sunrise forecast—and a commitment made around the pool table the night before—got us moving.

By 4:50, the sky was already beginning to glow as we power-walked 1,200 feet over 1½ miles to the granite summit. But we hadn’t missed the main event.

From 5:20 to 6:20, we watched the entire show unfold. Orange slowly crept into the deep blue sky, followed by salmon and magenta as a giant red sun eased over the horizon. Then the oranges returned as the light strengthened, painting a golden path across Penobscot Bay.

The sunrise was incredible.

Watching it with my boys was even better.

Worth every step. Worth every minute of lost sleep.

Life memories made.

Turns out when you get a pile of cousins together in Maine, chaos is inevitable.

The older kids become jungle gyms. The little ones become fearless. The grandparents somehow keep up. Everyone jumps off something they probably shouldn’t. And somehow, by the end of the day, everyone is smiling.

These are the days we hope they’ll talk about years from now.

“You betta believe… I’m back. Back in the New York groove.”

Twelve hours. One city. Zero wasted minutes.

We split up almost immediately to cover different ground. Jen and I made our way to Memorial Sloan Kettering by way of a lovely stroll through Central Park. And the boys were off chasing burgers at @skinnylouie.burgers and skyline views at @edgenyc.

Then we reunited for an early dinner at @senzaglutennyc—some of the best gluten-free Italian we’ve ever had.

From there we split up again. The boys caught Spider-Man on opening weekend. Jen and I saw Every Brilliant Thing starring @traceeellisross, which was hands down the best theater experience I’ve ever had. Seriously. The whole play and Tracee were absolutely extraordinary.

Then we had one last reunion over frozen hot chocolate at @serendipity3nyc, then back to Times Square for the midnight art display and a debate of whose day was better. Sounds like we were all happy with our decisions.

One day in Stone Harbor.

Sixteen hours and thirty-nine minutes.

A sunrise that demanded a wide-angle lens.
An ocean that couldn’t decide whether to be calm or wild.
Clouds that looked painted.
A moon that stole the show twice—on the way and then rising again.
And a few of my favorite people to share it all with (plus the island’s best ice cream at @springersicecream).

Stone Harbor, you outdid yourself.
