The original voice actor I asked to read for me had to politely decline the role. She's a dear friend, and she told me she felt the words were so viscerally cruel that she felt it was a level of hatred she didn't want to embody, which I understand. Words can embody a level of vi*lence that is intrinsically crushing.

For this film, I was inspired by some scary stories I remember growing up with. Other GenZ or Millennials may remember "The Licked Hand" and "The Ladder". I wanted to take those scares and spin into something of my own for this horror short film.

Thank you @alexanderarntzen for the incredible score and @lawrence_he for the sound design that makes it all come together!

Cast and crew safety is very important to me, and since we were a low budget short horror film, we could not afford a crane or platform. I didn't want to risk anyone having to balance on a ladder, so a lot of the bedroom window scenes were cheated for the camera. Most of the bedroom was shot in the first floor, with a few pick ups on the second, and stitched together in the end.

My goal behind this short horror film was to create a "feeling" of chaos, anxiety, disorientation, and rage. I took a lot of inspiration from German Expressionism to exaggerate emotional moments. I tried playing with framing, editing, color, sound, and music, all to help capture the muted trauma and stress of "keeping it together", and what happens when you can't hold it in anymore. A little window into someone's horrible day. Hope you enjoy our little horror movie!

Reposting for new folks 🖤 This is how I trained my dog @pumpkinspotted who did such a good job as an animal dog actor 🐕

EVER FEEL LIKE YOU'RE TRAPPED IN A BAD DREAM?
Katie has escaped an abusive household with her dog and younger sister Haley, in exchange for a less-than-ideal temporary housing environment. They soon realize that someone is too eager to welcome them to the neighborhood.

@flowmovie2024 features no dialogue and follows a cat trying to survive along with other animals in a seemingly post-apocalyptic world as the water level dramatically rises, realizing friendship is their greatest asset.

The movie was made by @gzilbalodis and @matisskaza and distributed by @janus_films

The team watched real animals and used real sounds, which makes sense why Pumpkin was so locked in.
