I know people read like this (and even more than this) on a consistent basis but not this girl. I’m very excited to be finishing up series, starting some new series, and getting to my massive physical TBR. The Wolf King and The Night Prince is a new favorite (unfinished) fantasy series. Dinner for Vampires sent me down a cult rabbit hole. I’m convinced Ali Hazelwood and Devney Perry are always a delight. I ranked one of the above books as a two stars. I DNF’d a book (not listed above) for the first time because it was actually trash. Did we have any reading in common?

A clever crime/legal thriller with fantastic LGBTQ+ representation 🙌🏻 [AD: Thanks to @verve_books ] 📙 Survivor’s Guilt by Robyn Gigl 📙 Crime & legal thriller 📙 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐️️ SYNOPSIS: “At first, the death of millionaire businessman Charles Parsons seems like a straightforward suicide. There’s no sign of forced entry or struggle in his lavish New Jersey mansion—just a single gunshot wound from his own weapon. But days later, a different story emerges. Computer techs pick up a voice recording that incriminates Parsons’ adoptive daughter, Ann, who duly confesses and pleads guilty. Erin McCabe has little interest in reviewing such a slam-dunk case—even after she learns that Ann, like herself, is a trans woman. Yet despite their misgivings, Erin and her law partner, Duane Swisher, ultimately can’t ignore the pieces that don’t fit. As their investigation deepens, they convince Ann to withdraw her guilty plea. But Ann clearly knows more than she’s willing to share, even if it means a life sentence. Who is she protecting, and why?” MY THOUGHTS: 🔘 After reading her first book, By Way of Sorrow, I COULD NOT WAIT for this to come out! 🔘 Although book 2 in the Erin McCabe series absolutely could be read as a standalone. 🔘 Gigl writes amazingly well-developed, complex characters in both Erin & Duane, I loved reading about them again - they are a great duo. 🔘 The plot (once again) is so clever, it’s multi-layered, and intricate with skilful twists. I never guessed where the plot was going. 🔘 Similar to book 1, Gigl writes gripping courtroom scenes, they are so detailed yet engrossing. 🔘 This story expertly tackles hard topics: human trafficking, murder, gender identity and abuse. Making it a dark, compulsive, legal thriller. #SurvivorsGuiltBook #RobynGigl #VerveBooks #NewLegalThriller #LegalThrillerReview A hand holding the colourful cover of the paperback, Survivor's Guilt by Robyn Gigl, in the background is an out of focus pastel cover and dog bed with a white and tan beagle lying down.

Oh HEY old friends 😍😍📚 Thanks to @readwithangie the Booksta Babes decided to do a reread of the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas!! I’m a fantasy lover from a young age, but this series really brought me back to my roots. Bye TBR ✌️ We read these together in 2020 and had the best group chat with our reactions alongway! It was so much fun and I can’t wait to relive it all. Do you love this series as much as we do?! If you haven’t read it, highly recommend! ❤️ #acotar #sarahjmaas #acomaf #acowar #acosf #booklovers #litwithkyliejo #fantasybooks #favoriteseries #seriesreread #amreading #byetbr #bookstagram

Laura @acourtoffantasyandsmut tagged me in the #recycleyourcontent challenge and this was just the right amount of lazy for me to want to join in with this one. For this post I’ve dived waaaaayyyy back in time (queue the harp music) delving deep into the archives, to one of my first ever booksta posts from 2019 when I read what was quickly to become one of my favourite books of all time. I knowwwww I know that Donna Tartt and indeed, The Goldfinch are total marmite. But slather me up with that savoury goodness - I’m a lover. Oh I’m a lover. This book is the book I measure all other epic contemporary fiction against. I loved the deep character profiles. The introspection. The soul wrenching antagonism. The long, involved, microcosmic descriptions. People and places and emotions that bled off the page. I didn’t just read this book, I inhabited it, I never wanted it to end, I wanted to move to New York and become an art historian. Please write another book Donna… 🙏🏻 I’ll be first in the queue. Tagging a few people who might fancy their own trip down booksta memory lane.
