$12,000. ❤️

Today, One Step at a Time reached the fundraising milestone Kerrsen set months ago, when this whole journey was still just an idea.

He got there.

Of course, as his mom, I’m incredibly proud. But what I’ve been thinking about tonight is the way it happened.

It didn’t happen with a bang.

For quite a while, things moved slowly. The donations came slowly. The following grew slowly. The momentum built slowly.

And Kerrsen was remarkably patient.

He just kept believing in what he was doing. He kept preparing. He kept sharing. And eventually, he started walking.

Then, day after day and kilometre after kilometre, he let us come along with him. Not just for the spectacular moments, but for the difficult ones too. The fear. The exhaustion. The uncertainty. The loneliness. The humour. The kindness of strangers. The breathtaking beauty. The moments when things didn’t go according to plan.

And somewhere along the way, something started to happen.

People weren’t simply watching anymore.

They were participating.

Some donated. Some shared his story. Some offered expertise or connections. Some sent messages from home. Some prayed. Some followed every kilometre. People in Peru began saying, “We’re walking with you.”

A community began forming around the journey.

I think that’s what has moved me most.

Kerrsen started with an idea he believed in and was willing to step into the unknown for it. He showed up courageously, authentically and vulnerably, without knowing whether it would work or where it would ultimately lead.

And by continuing to show up, he gave other people a place in the story.

Maybe that’s how real momentum is created.

One person takes a step. Someone else believes in it. Another person steps alongside them. And then another.

Until one day you look around and realize you’re no longer walking alone.

Today, that community helped One Step at a Time cross $12,000.

To every person who has walked some part of this journey with Kerrsen — however you’ve chosen to do it — thank you. ❤️

And the journey continues. Kerrsen is still walking, and so is the fundraising.

Let’s see how far we can take it.

One step at a time. ❤️🇵🇪🥾

WHERE DREAMS BEGIN ✨
Authentic Living Café | Saturday, September 26

Some ideas have a way of staying with us.

Perhaps it’s a project you want to begin, a business you’ve imagined, a creative endeavour, a community you’d like to create, or another way of sharing your gifts with the world.

Our next Authentic Living Café is an invitation to give one of those ideas the attention, perspective and momentum to move forward.

Through guided reflection and conversation, you’ll explore what you want to bring forward, why it matters to you and what may have been holding you back. You’ll put your idea into words, share it with others, hear fresh perspectives and begin identifying a meaningful next step.

You don’t need a finished plan or all the answers. Just bring an idea, dream or possibility you’d like to give a little more attention to.

In addition, proceeds from this Café will support the building of a home for a family of nine in Peru through the Pure Art Foundation.

This cause is especially close to my heart because it grew out of a passion project of my son, Kerrsen, who had a dream of doing something that would make a difference and decided to bring it to life. He is now walking 1,000 km across Peru, one step at a time, to raise the funds to build that home.

In many ways, his journey reflects what this Café is all about: giving an idea that matters to you the attention, courage and momentum to move from something you imagine into something real.

☕ Saturday, September 26
9:30–11:30 a.m.
📍 Bottē Restaurant, Hudson
💲 $25, taxes and fees included
Includes coffee, tea, or a muffin.

The gathering is intentionally small to support meaningful conversation, so advance registration is required and spaces are limited.

👉 Learn more and reserve your spot: https://tinyurl.com/5eh5p5t9 and #linkinbio

If there’s an idea that keeps returning, perhaps it’s time to give it some attention. And this time, doing so will also help another family’s dream take shape. ❤️

Feel free to share with someone who might love this morning too.

The Runway Is Built ❤️

There was something about last night that felt bigger than a send-off. It was a reminder of what can happen when people come together around something positive, with a shared desire to contribute and make a difference.

After a day of pouring rain, the skies cleared and we gathered by the water at Pure Art to surround Kerrsen with love and encouragement before he leaves for Peru on Saturday.

For months, this community has been building the runway alongside him. Last night felt like everyone gathering at the end of it and saying, “We’ve got you. Now go.” ❤️

And what an evening it was. We heard more about the family of nine who will receive Casa #43 and recorded messages for Kerrsen to carry with him on the trail.

The generosity surrounding this journey has been incredible, and the fundraising will continue right alongside Kerrsen as he begins his 1,000 km walk.

If you’ve been thinking about contributing, please do. Let’s see how much more we can make possible together. 🙏

Thank you to everyone who came, contributed, shared and helped bring us to this moment.

Kerrsen leaves Saturday.

The runway is built. Now go. ❤️🇵🇪

There is something profoundly human about having a place to call home. A place where children can sleep safely at night, where life can unfold with a little more security and a little more hope.
For families living in the slums of Manantay, Pucallpa, Peru, that sense of safety can be far from certain. Homes are often built from whatever materials can be found, leaving families vulnerable to heavy rains, overcrowding, and difficult living conditions.

The C.A.S.T. Program—Construct A Structure Today—was created by the Pure Art Foundation in response to this urgent need, helping families move from precarious living conditions into safe homes that offer security, dignity, and the foundation for a better future.”

This October, 35 volunteers will return to Peru to build Casa #43, a safe home for a family of nine currently living in poverty. With a concrete foundation, secure walls, and a roof that protects them from the elements, this home will offer something simple yet transformative: a safe place from which a family can begin to build its future.

And the story of Casa #43 begins before our volunteers ever lift a hammer.
On August 24, Kerrsen Bridges-Parkinson, a local Canadian volunteer, will take his first step on an extraordinary 1,000-kilometre walk across Peru. For six weeks, he will walk with one purpose: to raise $12,000 CAD to help build Casa #43.

Behind every kilometre will be a family waiting for a home. Behind every donation, another piece of that home will begin to take shape.

By the time our volunteers arrive in October, Kerrsen will have walked hundreds of kilometres carrying this family’s story with him across Peru. And together—with every step, every donation, and every helping hand—we hope to turn that journey into something that will remain long after the footsteps have faded:
a home, a foundation, and a new beginning for a family of nine.

One Step at a Time

A 1,000 km walk across Peru… to build a home, and to follow something deeper.

As a mother, I’ve seen what happens when someone chooses to step forward and follow their own path.
This is one of those moments.

My son, Kerrsen, is launching a project in partnership with Pure Art Foundation… a journey rooted in travel, contribution, and becoming who he’s here to be.

Last year, we were in Peru together helping to build a home… and something clicked. Not just in the work, but in what becomes possible when people come together with intention and care.

This fall, he will walk over 1,000 km across Peru, from the Andes to the Amazon, to help build a home for a family in need.

It’s a choice to do something real… to challenge himself, to give back, and to inspire others to step into their own path.

✨ Join us May 27 for an intimate evening to open this journey
📍 Hudson Creative Hub | 7:00 PM
🎟 Free event (limited space)

👉 RSVP here: https://facebook.com/events/1705369023792619

And if you can’t attend, even sharing or following the journey means more than you know.

One step at a time… this is how something real begins.

✨ First Day with the Pure Art Foundation – Pucallpa, Peru ✨

After nearly 20 hours of travel, we arrived in Pucallpa, weary, grateful, and wide open to what awaits. Our hosts, Robert and Brigitte McKinnon, welcomed us with such warmth and immediately brought us to The Hub, the beating heart of the community they have so lovingly helped to build.

Here, the Pure Art Foundation has supported the creation of over 40 homes, a daycare, medical clinic, community centre, and a sustainable sewing initiative that empowers local women to support their families. Everywhere we turned, we could feel the living spirit of compassion and collaboration woven into every corner.

We met the mother and grandmother of the family who will soon move into the Foundation’s latest project, a new home that will shelter ten people. Their smiles said everything… gratitude, hope, and the quiet dignity of being seen and supported.

Today, we will have the opportunity to roll up our sleeves and lend our hands, whether helping to build this new home or supporting any of the ongoing projects on site. I can already sense how much this experience will open our hearts and deepen our understanding of love in action. 💛🌿

Fifteen years ago, the Pure Art Foundation envisioned a community in the slums of Pucallpa, Peru, that would stand on three core pillars: Health, Shelter, and Education.
This initiative was named the Hub of Hope. Its mission was to empower a marginalized community to partake in its various sustainability programs in the name of a brighter future.

In March 2024, after years of success stories and deep community impact, we celebrated the inauguration of the Hub of Hope in the public registry of Pucallpa. The Hub has now been officially recognized as a not-for-profit civil association under the name Santa Maria de la Esperanza Human Development Center (CPHSME).

✨This project is only possible through the invaluable partnerships, generous philanthropic contributions, and the dedicated community engagement of the Missionaries of the Immaculate Conception (MIC), along with supporters from Canada and beyond, who work tirelessly to ensure the ongoing success of all its programs.

✨Through our collective efforts, we are transforming lives and fostering hope for a better future.
