1,200 kilometres. 51 days. One final step. ♾️

Almost a year ago, I stood in this very community with a dream that felt impossibly far away.

Last week, I walked back into that same community, having crossed deserts, mountains, and jungles on my own two feet.

And the moment I arrived, I was welcomed home.

I don’t think I will ever find the words to express what this moment meant to me. The love, the gratitude, and the overwhelming realization that something I once only dared to imagine had become real.

But the most beautiful part is that I didn’t arrive alone.

Every person who donated, shared this journey, encouraged me, welcomed me into their home, or believed in this dream helped carry me every step of the way.

I may have walked the kilometres, but we made every one of them together.

And now, together, we have turned those kilometres into something lasting: a home for a family right here in Manantay.

One week to go! ❤️🇵🇪

It’s hard to believe, but one week from today, Wednesday, October 14, we’ll be gathering in Pucallpa, Peru, to welcome Kerrsen at the end of his extraordinary 1,000 km journey!

I’ll be there, along with his friends, the Pure Art team, the local community and the family we’re helping to build a home for.

And thanks to all of you, we’ve now raised over $12,000! It’s incredible, and we’re so grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey.

But we’re not finished yet! We have one more week to rally around Kerrsen, cheer him on, share his story and keep the fundraising going. Every additional contribution can help support the family’s other needs and extend Pure Art’s work in the community.

And I promise, we’ll be bringing you along for that final reunion in Pucallpa. We’ll be filming and sharing those special moments so you can experience them with us.

Thank you for walking alongside Kerrsen and for making this so much bigger than one person’s journey.

Today, One Step at a Time reached the fundraising milestone Kerrsen set months ago, when this whole journey was still just an idea.

He got there.

Of course, as his mom, I’m incredibly proud. But what I’ve been thinking about tonight is the way it happened.

It didn’t happen with a bang.

For quite a while, things moved slowly. The donations came slowly. The following grew slowly. The momentum built slowly.

And Kerrsen was remarkably patient.

He just kept believing in what he was doing. He kept preparing. He kept sharing. And eventually, he started walking.

Then, day after day and kilometre after kilometre, he let us come along with him. Not just for the spectacular moments, but for the difficult ones too. The fear. The exhaustion. The uncertainty. The loneliness. The humour. The kindness of strangers. The breathtaking beauty. The moments when things didn’t go according to plan.

And somewhere along the way, something started to happen.

People weren’t simply watching anymore.

They were participating.

Some donated. Some shared his story. Some offered expertise or connections. Some sent messages from home. Some prayed. Some followed every kilometre. People in Peru began saying, “We’re walking with you.”

A community began forming around the journey.

I think that’s what has moved me most.

Kerrsen started with an idea he believed in and was willing to step into the unknown for it. He showed up courageously, authentically and vulnerably, without knowing whether it would work or where it would ultimately lead.

And by continuing to show up, he gave other people a place in the story.

Maybe that’s how real momentum is created.

One person takes a step. Someone else believes in it. Another person steps alongside them. And then another.

Until one day you look around and realize you’re no longer walking alone.

Today, that community helped One Step at a Time cross $12,000.

To every person who has walked some part of this journey with Kerrsen — however you’ve chosen to do it — thank you. ❤️

And the journey continues. Kerrsen is still walking, and so is the fundraising.

Let’s see how far we can take it.

Authentic Living Café | Saturday, September 26

Some ideas have a way of staying with us.

Perhaps it’s a project you want to begin, a business you’ve imagined, a creative endeavour, a community you’d like to create, or another way of sharing your gifts with the world.

Our next Authentic Living Café is an invitation to give one of those ideas the attention, perspective and momentum to move forward.

Through guided reflection and conversation, you’ll explore what you want to bring forward, why it matters to you and what may have been holding you back. You’ll put your idea into words, share it with others, hear fresh perspectives and begin identifying a meaningful next step.

You don’t need a finished plan or all the answers. Just bring an idea, dream or possibility you’d like to give a little more attention to.

In addition, proceeds from this Café will support the building of a home for a family of nine in Peru through the Pure Art Foundation.

This cause is especially close to my heart because it grew out of a passion project of my son, Kerrsen, who had a dream of doing something that would make a difference and decided to bring it to life. He is now walking 1,000 km across Peru, one step at a time, to raise the funds to build that home.

In many ways, his journey reflects what this Café is all about: giving an idea that matters to you the attention, courage and momentum to move from something you imagine into something real.

$I’m incredibly proud to finally share our mini-doc, “One Step at a Time,” created by my close friends at @suited5productions. This film means so much to me because I feel like it captures, more than anything I’ve shared so far, what this project really means at its core. There’s something incredibly special about having people around you who not only believe in your vision, but understand it deeply enough to add their own creativity to it and turn it into something greater than you could have made alone. My friends have poured so much time, thought and care into telling this story, and now we have something that will live far beyond this walk. Something we’ll be able to look back on years from now and remember not only what we did, but why we did it. I hope this film can make you feel even a fraction of what this project has made me feel.
