POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What happens when @ssd.reba @jo.helps.j9, their handlers @i.am.jeanine and @purplewolfdragon encounter a huge, fire spitting, animatronic dragon?!?

Nothing, just focused, very good girls and safe handlers enjoying a crowded park! Even the lady behind us screamed, haha, she said the girls were braver than she was 😋🫡🥰🐕‍🦺✨

Reba was trained by a program, and Jo was owner trained—both were flawless at @universalorlando and both make access safe and possible for their handlers.

Is there anything you want to know about service dogs?

What score do you give Reba and Jo?

ID:
Video 1 Jo and a black lab X golden in a green vest lie calmly on a bus with their handlers
Video 2 the black dog rests her head on the ground as people in plastic ponchos walk right next to her nose
Video three, a giant, animatronic dragon on top of Greengots Bank from Harry Potter spouts fire, as the shot pans to the two service dogs calmly focusing on their handlers.

What an amazing weekend!

Day 2: We had group brunch with @ssd_earlgrey and @mesatheservicedog. Three service dogs at one table? No problem. Thank you for brunch and the company!

Next, we stopped in @hersheyschocolateworld to grab some unique flavors for @purplewolfdragon.

Then we met up with @mesatheservicedog for one last play session. We both tired out pretty quickly.

Finally, the long drive home with a couple stops along the way. It's good to be home.

Pic 1: A woman with short hair and darkened glasses sits on a wooden bench in front of a garden. She is wearing a grey jacket with a purple purse strap across the front, purple pants, and grey hiking boots. On the ground between her legs sits a black and brindle Labrador wearing a service dog vest. Both are looking at the camera.
Pic 2: Same as picture 1 but from a different angle. The woman and dog face to the left.
Pic 3: The same setting as pictures 1 and 2, but this time the woman and dog look lovingly at each other.
Pic 4: A woman lays her head on a black and brindle dog who is asleep on a grey couch with a blue and white blanket under them.

We're here and ready for Partner's Day tomorrow!

Picture of a black and brindle dog lying on a white bed, looking at the camera. A woman in grey hides half her face behind the dog. On the wall behind them is a painting of trees with green leaves.

Week 3: Once I get the zoomies out, I quite like the kibble my partner brings on sniffy walks. Squirrels and birds are also fun to chase now but when she calls my name I remember she has that food tho.

Video from above looking down at a black and brindle lab. She is looking at the camera and adjusts her body when the human says let's go. The dog walks close to the camera and takes treats every time she looks back at her human. They walk on grassy ground.

Some professional head shots from portrait sessions this weekend. I loved the experience, and I’m eager to do more.

🐕‍🦺❤️‍🩹HOW OWNER TRAINING MY SERVICE DOG CHANGED MY LIFE: Many decisions I've made throughout my life have been defining moments for me in the sense there is a 'life I had before', and a 'life I have after' whatever that decision may have been.

Choosing to train my own service dog, Luna, has changed my life dramatically. Here's how:

🟢My medical conditions are made easier to deal w because of Luna's assistance. The list of these alone could be in its own post, but some of the things Luna helps me w are: medical alert 🫀& assist, light mobility (pick up items and retrievals), behavior interruption during anxiety attacks

🟢I feel so much safer having Luna by my side all of the time.

🟢I feel so much more confident in going places where I otherwise would have been alone. I don't feel I need to be walking backwards intermittently in a parking lot when I'm alone, or in a store, etc.

🟢I have realized I have some type of personal Red Bull in my blood when it comes to keeping up w Luna's training for SD work. Before SD work, Luna and I mainly focused on tricks, & I would go into phases of not really being into it, and would take weeks off. With service work training, my need for what Luna can offer me pushes me so hard to keep up.

Granted, there are many days when I just can't…so I don't (plus Luna has total rest days as well other than her daily tasks she does for me). But, my consistency w her training is driven by my need for what she provides me. I otherwise have always kinda been bad w staying consistent in the past w training.

📃And, the list goes on, but I only have so many characters in a post, and as much good training Luna as my SD has brought me, there are also ways my life has changed that make it more challenging. I do genuinely believe the benefits Luna offers me are far worth the challenges, but, nonetheless, here is a little outline of a regular day for us, and these challenges will be discussed.
