When we arrived to the park entrance the day was hot and sunny. Wanting a mellow easy hike after climbing a mountain the previous day, I didn’t pack much gear, which would soon become hilarious.

The hike started out great. The trail and the sights were beautiful. The chipmunks and squirrels were active and unafraid. They begged for food and yelled at us when we didn’t give it.

Eventually we found a nice looking waterfall and I scrambled to the top of a large boulder to be off the trail and get a better viewpoint. The sun was shining and the day was calm.

Soon after starting to paint, thunder started rumbling and dark clouds rolled in. I felt a few drops and kept painting.

Within minutes the rain picked up. I made the decision just in time to climb off the rock and tuck into a tiny area underneath the cliff overhang, getting just barely out of the rainfall right as the skies opened up to a torrential monsoon downpour. Thunder crashed overhead and I kept painting as we waited out the rain, staying mostly unsoaked.

After the rain I climbed back down to the trail and finished the initial study from a different vantage point. At home in the studio I made the decision to develop it into a more finished product that depicted the weather, with the hazy sense of motion and chaos of the rain coming down.

⛰️STORY TIME⛰️

Transcendence of self—the “flow state”.

Every religion and spiritual tradition has a term for it and a practice for attaining a version of it. Modern medical science supports and confirms it. I’ve received the downloads during medicinal journeys. I’ve been chasing it unknowingly and then knowingly through artistic creation nearly my entire life. It’s deeply spiritual without needing to be spiritual at all. It’s both the addiction and its cure. It’s the antidote to the human condition.

One thing I love about vintage/secondhand (and well, music festivals 😸) is the ability for unique and shameless self expression. Over a year+ I slowly collected all of the pieces for this fit and honestly, an entire new character was unlocked last weekend 🐾🐾

1930s Brass & Black Czech Glass Drop Necklace✨

Three textured black Czech glass cabochons framed in ornate brass settings. Linked together with very fine chain and matching black beads. Center of pendant has a black glass faceted drop. Very good condition. Unsigned. Vintage from the 1930s.

It’s a good time of year to post one of my favorite dresses. I found her in Palm Springs, CA last October and she needed a lot of work. She is finally all cleaned up, repaired and ready to be loved again 💘

1930s Sheer Blush Pink Gown with Velvet Ribbon Lace Accents✨

Short puff sleeves with little velvet ribbon bows on each one. Original side zip closure and bias cut skirt for easy wearing below the waistline. Very full hem with velvet ribbon lace detail. Good condition with some minor flaws. Some yellowing under the arms that didn’t clean out entirely and a couple pinholes close to the hem. Vintage from the 1930s. No tag • handmade.
