ANESTHESIA ROLL CALL!!🗣️🗣️
We are Black Anesthesiologists. We stand behind the drapes to control your pain, your breath, and your consciousness. We safely drift you off to sleep and are steady calm hands that bring you back.
‌
And we are rare.
‌
There are roughly 40,000+ anesthesiologists in the United States — and only 5.3% are Black, despite Black Americans making up 13-14% of the US population.
‌
Though we are small, we are mighty and we show up excellently.
‌
To every Black patient who has felt unseen — we see you.
‌
To every young Black student who dares to dream — we are proof.
‌
This is our roll call. 🩺🧑🏾‍⚕️👨🏾‍⚕️
‌
Give us docs a follow and get inspired. Hopefully you see us in an operating room near you!
