🥕🌱 From Garden to Plate! 🌱🥕
Sharing our latest harvest of beautiful carrots and beets planted, grown and harvested by Farmer Nick and the students participating in @pvpschools @pvschoolgardens. These fresh veggies have made their way to our amazing restaurant partner Good Stuff @eatgoodstuff in Palos Verdes to be integrated into their heathy delicious menu items for everyone to enjoy!

Carrots and beets are nutritional powerhouses, packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, promoting healthy vision and skin, while beets support heart health and provide a natural energy boost. Don’t overlook the greens—both carrot tops and beet greens are loaded with nutrients like vitamin K and calcium, making them a delicious and nutritious addition to salads or sautés.

Extending a huge thanks to everyone making this farm-to-table journey possible! We are proud to be recognized as a Green Robbin School District this year and excited to show you how we have continued to raise the bar with our community connections to food, through our sustainability, wellness and community engagement initiatives!

Students began planting their new coastal sage scrub native garden habitat with Farmer Erin and our amazing parent garden team at Dapplegray this week! They are planting homes for our CA gnatcatcher, PV Blue Butterfly and more. Great job Colts! This habitat will be an excellent complement to the 3rd Grade Naturalist Program run by our community partners at the PVP Land Conservancy. @pvplc @dapplegraypta @dgcolts3011 @pvschoolgardens @cnps_south_coast @theodorepayne #pvpusd #environmentalscience #steamgarden #palosverdes #schoolgarden #outdooreducation #nativegarden #habitatgardening #dudleya #rattlepod #capoppy #deerweed #purplesage #artemesia #yarrow #lemonadeberry #toyon #pricklypearcactus

Congratulations to the @palosverdeslibrary Summer Reading Palooza prize winner who joined Farmer Nick for a Palos Verdes School Gardens tour of the PVIS native garden habitat, supporting our peninsula’s local flora and fauna, explored and harvested fruits and vegetables from the edible farm, and culminated with a natural dye activity making one of a kind indigo kitchen towels. Our lucky prize winners took home lots of delicious farm goodies, seeds, plant starts and knowledge. @pvschoolgardens is proud to connect our #communitythroughfood and nature! #ediblegarden #schoolgarden #nonprofit #pvsg #pvld #communitypartners #naturebasededucation #outdoorscience #summerteadingpalooza #naturaldyes #indigo #palosverdes #pvpusd

Nothing says summer like corn on the cob! Grilled to perfection, slathered in yummy organic butter and dusted with fresh herbs and edible flowers it was the most popular item of the day with our campers who cleaned and prepared the corn for the grill with great care!
