HAMLET/HORATIO

A camera stands alone in a circle of light on a black sound stage. Hamlet is already dead. Everything you are about to watch happens inside the last second he is awake.

Paul Warner’s feature never pretends the equipment is not there. The operator stays in frame. So does the viewfinder, timecode running, battery at thirty-two percent. The rest of the company stands in black at the edge of the light, waiting to be called in, less a court than a crew. Horatio promised a dying friend he would tell the story. Here he keeps it by picking up a camera and directing the film you are watching.

The play runs plain. Only enough set to suggest a room. Claudius in a doorway, Hamlet in a leather jacket, Ophelia blown to white until the frame almost loses her.

Three hundred thousand dollars. An ARRI Alexa Mini, a black stage, a company of actors and a hundred minutes of Shakespeare.

The build took twenty years. David Wenzel played Hamlet off-Broadway in 2000, developed the Horatio idea with writer David Vando, and staged it eight times before deciding it was a film. Award Winner at FFTG Awards Film Fest 2020, in seven categories.

Six years on it is still streaming, still free, still up.
Horatio’s whole job was to outlive the story. So far the film has done it for him.

Where films and filmmakers live on.

I paid homage to the @pwwarner film "Fall Time" during Halloween 2023! @davidarquette's line "let's have some trouble" nicely captured the spirit of my own adventures with friends! "Fall Time" shook me up as a closeted teen and still resonates with me today, as the themes of gay identity clashing with toxic masculinity feel more relevant than ever! #falltime #paulwarner #davidarquette #halloween #garthjensen #garthpopoh

FULL MOVIE LINK IN BIO 🎥🎬 My Dear Beautiful Sisters, Classmates, Professors, Crew, and Cast of Sister Sister,
From the deepest part of my heart, I want to say thank you. Sister Sister is more than a short film—it’s a reflection of life, love, struggle, and above all, resilience.
To my sisters—your unwavering love, your life experiences, and your strength were the heartbeat of this story. Monica and Gina…I love y’all so much. God couldn’t have given me any better sisters than you two and the the love that y’all have for each other as sisters gave this project its soul. Sister Sister is inspired by you—by the battles you’ve fought, the dignity you’ve upheld, and the inspiration you’ve been to me my whole life. Without you, there would be no story to tell.
To my professors and classmates, thank you for pushing me to be better. Your insight, feedback, and mentorship helped sharpen my vision. You encouraged me to dig deeper, think broader, and tell the truth through film. You’ve played a powerful role in shaping my growth as a filmmaker and storyteller.
To my incredible crew and actors—your dedication, creativity, and passion brought every scene to life. You gave this project its wings. Thank you for trusting the vision, for showing up with professionalism and heart, and for bringing your absolute best.
“Sister Sister” is a story for the underdogs—those who have been overlooked, underestimated, and unheard. It’s about believing in yourself even when the odds seem stacked against you. It’s about fighting for your dreams, lifting each other up, and refusing to give up when life tries to break you. This project is about us—our real-life experiences, our quiet victories, and the power of perseverance.
I’m beyond excited to release this film into the world. I hope it touches people the way it touched all of us during its creation. Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping me tell a story that I believe the world truly needs to hear.
With deep gratitude and love,
Hubert Lee Guy Jr.

Graduating from my first year of film school @newyorkfilmacademy has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life, and I couldn’t be more excited and grateful to have reached this incredible milestone. Being surrounded by talented peers and passionate professors who pushed me to explore the depths of my creativity has been truly inspiring. This journey has not only sharpened my skills as a filmmaker but has also deepened my love for storytelling and visual art.

I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to the amazing friends I made along the way, each of whom has been a source of motivation, collaboration, and support. Together, we have shared long nights on set, intense editing sessions, and those electrifying moments of creative breakthrough. These bonds have not only enriched my work but have also created lifelong friendships that I will always cherish.

A special thank you goes to my professors, whose guidance, mentorship, and relentless encouragement have shaped me into the filmmaker I am today. They challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, believe in my vision, and never settle for anything less than excellence. I am forever grateful for the lessons, the opportunities, and the unwavering support that made this journey possible. So the fascist tyrant had the T removed from the Stonewall National Monument (https://abcnews.go.com/US/transgender-references-removed-stonewall-national-monument-website/story?id=118804553#:~:text=The%20National%20Park%20Service%20eliminated,has%20been%20changed%20to%20LGB). The T (transgender, transexual, transvestite, etc...) were and still are an integral part of our civil rights. The resistance and fight against the cops in June 1969 was initiated by a trans person. These people will NOT BE ERASED. The LGBTQ community WILL NOT BE ERASED. Show your support. Give to the local ACLU or LGBTQ org and have a voice that states we are all human and deserve dignity, happiness and the right to live free from fear and oppression. Brothers, Enemies, or Jealousy?

Here’s a short I shot with my friend Danny Olabi, a talented and ambitious actor & creative. We both love acting & action so we brainstormed some ideas and kept building on it. Danny was suppose to beat the hell out of me in the house first but had to cut it because of some unexpected factors. Shot it all in 4 hours with 3 solid skilled crew members, director- Paul Warner, DP-Joel Basquin and AC & sound operator- Tahj Pomare. I had a lot of fun doing the editing on this and figuring out more of how to put it all together. I’m always looking for people to do more acting scenes with🎭….Feel free to follow (Ronin) @sneaky_lyfe he’s got tons of fun content he’s alway putting out.

I was blown away seeing the amazing art from @slicksatan at the @torontoqueermarket last Summer and commissioned him to do a full comic book cover based on the movie "Fall Time." His work combines retro flair with spooky horror fun, modern queer magic and I knew he'd bring my idea to life fabulously! "Fall Time" still evokes feelings about my own coming of age and coming out journey. I wanted a piece that highlighted the cool 50's vibes, the camp, the tension, but most importantly the homoeroticism! I am SO delighted with how @slicksatan made everything work, including the golden age textures on all the characters and lettering, plus the wink to my own cosplay! The movie is an emotional boomerang for me, bringing me back to being a scared closeted teen, to an "out" University student using the film to discuss gay identity, to being a middle aged gay man recognizing how deeply the film's themes still shake me up. There's one moment of pure joy in "Fall Time" where David (@davidarquette) dances with Joe (@jonahblechman) and their smiles light up the room. (Props to @slicksatan for nailing this as the main image!) Maybe the movie still resonates with me because that joyous moment with two men dancing together happens a short time before toxic masculinity pops up and starts destroying everything. Maybe I didn't fully "get" that as a teen, but now I read it as a metaphor for how hard you have to fight for joy, especially if you're an LGBT person. (But wrestling with the darkness is often how you find your way back to the light!) Thank you SO MUCH for creating this amazing piece of art @slicksatan !!! #falltime #slicksatan #comicbook #art #lgbt #garthjensen #garthpopoh
