‘The uphill skate is the relentless reality for those of us navigating the visible and invisible borders of this land. But Nadheem’s poetry and our conversation reveal that the goal isn’t just to reach the top alone. It is to find, in the love and generosity of community, a way to transform the hill itself. It is to continue dreaming, as his work does, of a world with a “bedrock of soft,” where the skate, however arduous, is always undertaken together.’ – Samandal Sidig.

As we say goodbye to Nadheem Singh’s (@pyjama_cake) commission humble stones at Platfform 2, we’re delighted to share a digital publication featuring poems, drawings and photographs from Nadheem’s research process alongside a text from artist and writer Samandal Sidig.

Thanks to: Samandal Sidig @samandollar, @markelkhatib for design of the publication, @cerian.hedd for editorial support and Nadheem for his collaboration in developing humble stones.

Download the publication via the link in our bio or on the commissions page of Peak’s website.

Nadheem Singh’s commission, humble stones, is now on view at Platfform 2, Y Fenni Station and continues until early December 2025.

humble stones features two poems interwoven with hand-drawn elements from the artist’s sketchbooks. The work explores the convergence and divergence of natural, geologic, political and national borders – and questions who is excluded, and what is extracted, across these thresholds.

Nadheem Singh @pyjama_cake is an Indian poet, artist, and facilitator based in Cardiff. Read more about humble stones on the Peak website.

This programme of commissions is funded by @celfcymruarts Create and @paulhamlynfoundation.

Mae’r gwaith yn archwilio cydgyfeiriad a dargyfeiriad ffiniau naturiol, daearegol, gwleidyddol a chenedlaethol - ac yn cwestiynu pwy sy’n cael eu gadael mas, a beth sy’n cael ei echdynnu ar draws y trothwyon hyn.

Bardd Indiaidd o Gaerdydd yw Nadheem Singh @pyjama_cake sydd hefyd yn gweithio fel artist a hwylusydd. Darllenwch fwy am humble stones ar wefan Peak.

We are very excited to announce that our third Platfform 2 Commission at Y Fenni Station will be undertaken by Nadheem Singh @pyjama_cake, an Indian poet, artist, and facilitator based in Cardiff. His writing explores themes of reconnection to nature, the experience of migration, and the emotional landscape of collective liberation. 🍃

trans women are women and trans men are men - no matter what a crusty bunch of willfully ignorant weirdos think🖕

“On April 16, the UK Supreme Court ruled that the definition of a “woman” as stated in the Equality Act 2010 refers to ‘biological women and biological sex.’

The case relates to an appeal by anti-trans group For Women Scotland, against the Scottish Government. This ruling legally excludes trans women-even those with Gender Recognition Certificates— from protections designed for women, setting a dangerous precedent that reinforces the authority of the state to dictate our bodies and right to self determination.

This decision was made without a single trans voice permitted to speak in court. Three of the four intervenors were explicitly anti-trans, and a retired trans judge, Victoria McCloud, was blocked from offering evidence. The court’s ruling was not only unjust, it was engineered to be. When the people most affected are denied the right to speak, it is a show trial in service of state violence.” - via @transaidcymru X @weexistorg

if you’re one of the people celebrating or staying quiet about this - we see you. if you’re looking for a way to support your trans pals, keep an eye out for a demonstration near you (there’s one in cardiff on 21/4/25)🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
