Wow. Today marks 4 years since I started training jiu jitsu at @victorymmacs 🤯 Time flies when you’re having fun. Had some thoughts on the journey so far.

1. Beyond thankful for my team, my coaches, and anyone else in the Victory MMA family. It’s home and there’s no where else I’d rather be pushing myself. It’s a joy to watch my teammates and friends get better and do great things. Especially seeing the amount of sacrifice and work that our MMA team puts in.
2. If I can do it, anyone can. I grew up as a music/art kid with 0 athletic ability. I learned in adulthood that hard work and dedication can supersede athletic genetics in some cases. Every class, open mat or competition - I push myself to be better each time. Being a hobbyist doesn’t mean giving less effort.
3. Drop in to other gyms. I’ve got gyms that I’ve been able to train at on my out of state trips. I always learn new things and get a different feel and make new friends along the way.
4. I’m healthier (generally) than I’ve ever been. My first class at victory, I remember thinking “there’s no way I can do this” and “everyone else here looks so much stronger and better”. I’m still pushing for bigger health goals and BJJ has been a great motivation to cleanup my diet, get more consistent with lifting and develop a stronger mentality. And now I’m getting to see that same journey begin for my kid.

Goal is to do this as long as I am physically able 🤙 great outlet. Goal train.
