A lot has happened in the last few months. Graduation, Alaska, New job, New York, New graduate student (not me).
.
Ya boy graduated with his MFA💪🏽 for my homies that’s been rocking with me since the dog instagram days, we finally made it.
I can’t say that I did this accomplishment on my own, I had my wife and my friends to thank for continuously pushing and supporting me. All of those last minute photoshoots that my friends helped me do, just because I “had an idea” really helped me believe this was something I could accomplish, and I did.
.
Also, last semester @jamkatel.dpx and I taught our first class, intro to darkroom. It was wonderful to see our class grow and learn about photography. I never thought I would enjoy teaching but that class changed my perspective on what it’s like to be an instructor. It is quite rewarding.
.
Since graduation I’ve had time to finally sit back and breath. I loved my time in graduate school but I can’t deny, it was tough. Thankfully I had wonderful professors to guide me along the way.
.
Carolyn and I went to Alaska! We spent 8 days there and I took lots of photos, some that I have yet to cull through. I started working at Hunt’s where the temptation to purchase every camera and roll of film looms over me everyday. And my wife started graduate school!
.
Went to see my friends in NYC @maxresphotos , @therealfoodtour & @thelifeoftelvin . Had some dope food, dope talks and chill moments. I will be talking about the lobster roll topped with caviar until I die, sadly not pictured, but go try it at the corner store in east village.

That’s about it. I’m taking a small break from making images but there are things happening behind the scenes, always. ✌🏽

Conviction, 2026.

The more I print and reprint this photo, and the longer I sit with this portrait, the more I understand the message I sought out to deliver months ago.
.
This portrait is the embodiment of how I perceive masculinity. The mask we wear when we feel uncomfortable and guarded, but how that same mask melts when you feel accepted and vulnerable around the ones you love. How society has painted men, specifically black men, as this impenetrable entity without empathy, only anger.
.
Over the past 2 years I have created different iteretions of this feeling on “letting go”, and for me, it is most present in this portrait.
.
Thank you to my homie @pyro.__ for helping me create this!
