Thanks to the graduate of our BA Drama who brought me flowers today and gave a great workshop.

PGRS returns next Tuesday! There will be a great talk from Tymek followed by free food. 12pm on the 27th, Arts One; open to all.

$MUST-READ! Jaclyn Rajsic’s third October Showcase explores repair as well as brokenness. “What happens when the cracks and breaks are not possible for people to see? When fracture is internal – when we ourselves break – can we be repaired? If we can, then are we left more vulnerable to future fractures? What happens when we’re beyond repair?” Poem Split by Angela Marshall looks at masked trauma and superficial strength, while poetry from Khayelihle Benghu – ‘A Mother, Collected Her Broken Names’ – is about holding what matters. TAK Erzinger’s ‘Formation’ looks at new possibilities that may arise from pain while Eithne Cullen’s ‘Stain’ offers a poignant metaphor for fracture and continuity. Finally, prose by Azmina Sohail reflects on being a hijab-wearing woman in modern-day Britain, arguing there is power in invisibility. #WritingCommunity #AmWriting #Poetry #LiteraryCommunity #WednesdayMotivation #WriterWednesday$

$QMUL's Jaclyn Rajsic’s second October Showcase looks at our ‘Fractured’ theme from the perspective of relationships and identity. “This week, I’ve been thinking about fracture in relation to family history and inheritance: the stories, memories, ancestries and relationships that shape who we are. Stories and histories can be passed down through generations, for example through family trees, objects or family heirlooms.” Lesley Anne Armour tells us about her grandmother’s teapot, while Jonathan Chibuike Ukah explores spoons a sign of what we inherit or receive at birth. Finally a short story from Rebecca Seaton invites us to think about how research into our origins and family history can disrupt our understanding of who we are. #WritingCommunity #AmWriting #Poetry #LiteraryCommunity #WednesdayMotivation #WriterWednesday$
