Had a great time at Oregon Wine LAB on Friday. These are the kinds of events we need everywhere on all days. Humans are story telling beings, we need them like food and water. Thanks so much for coming out ya’ll. It was so nice to see old friends in the room along with the new!

I’ve been attending the Oregon Country Fair in one way or another for 30 years, and volunteering out there for 20. This year it really snuck up on me and in the midst of my career and personal changes I was NOT ready for the all-consuming shakeup out of my new day-to-day routines~ but we got there and I learned to go at my own pace and rest when needed. Here are some favorite moments and people out on those magical dusty trails ♾️ 🍑

I heard rumors about the Kerrville Folk Festival… I can now confirm they are ALL TRUE.

Amazing 14 days spent singing songs with some of the most talented songwriters I have ever met in the hill country of Texas, volunteering to make the event possible, swimming in a stunning river, sitting around circles with my idols and in endless awe of the creativity that is channeled through all of us. Wow.

Back in Oregon now and missing the Kerr crew heavy 💙

Pleased as heck to be one of the winners of the New Folk Song Contest at the @kerrfolkfest ✨ I’ve been hearing about this mystical Texas songwriter festival for years - the campground every night is filled with many dozens of songwriter circles scattered around in reverence to The Song: one guitar going around, and all ears on the person sharing theirs. A utopia of a very specific kind that busted my heart wide open.

When I found out they have a song contest with past participants like Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Adrienne Lenker, etc etc etc I decided to go for it! 1200 applicants, 24 finalists (who were all mind-blowingly amazing) and 6 winners, determined after adjudicated performances by all 24 finalists. I believe very firmly that there is a home for every song & know that art is subjective 💛 and still I am honoured.

I spent 9 days there, and heard so many songs that made me laugh/cry/wonder. Made some new lifelong friends. Met some underground legends. Thanks Kerrville Folk Fest for having me and creating this micro universe unlike any other. I will definitely be returning 💛

This is my 20th year attending @kerrfolkfest 💕
It’s an 18 day long singer-songwriter festival in the Texas hill country, 2 hours outside of Austin. The first year i came here, i knew no one. I was 23, an aspiring folksinger who loves summer camp, so if felt like my natural habitat.
Long story short, i fell in love with the community here and ending up calling austin home.
Kerrville is so special to me. You crawl out of a tent in the morning to say hi to all your beloved friends. You stay up til 4am singing songs in a bus, around a camp fire, under a canopy of stars, in a thunderstorm. You swim or play or write or laugh all day long.
Community is everything and i feel so lucky to be a part of this one.
