Thank you for showing up in community for “when he cries he looks like me,” an exhibition by mother-and-son artist duo May Gaspay and Mik Gaspay.

This exhibition was our most well attended on record, and we hope that the themes of care and connection continue to resonate and inspire.

A special thank you to artists May Gaspay and Mik Gaspay (@mikgaspay) for sharing their vision with us; to Shona Mei Findlay (@shonafindlay), Kathy Nguyễn (@katz_nguyen), and Lizzy Myers (@lizzymontanamyers) for supporting our public programs; to visual designer Savithri Velaga (@@savi.factory) for the exhibition identity; and to everyone who joined us for the closing celebration.

“when he cries he looks like me” marked the culmination of the second iteration of the Warehouse Residency, a program launched to provide Bay Area artists at all career stages the dedicated time and space to create conceptually and physically ambitious new work.

Part office, part living room, part library - Office Hours is a temporary space where professional output and personal practice merge. The exhibition features a range of projects and catalogues that invite guests to view, reflect, and make copies - framing these works as both art and reference. The studio becomes a gallery and workspace, infiltrating the 9-to-5 and blurring the lines between cultural input and output.

Quality Time’s Office Hours is a publication exhibition featuring select Bay Area galleries and presses. In bringing our shared local archive into CCA’s MFA studio, we highlight the foundational role of local communities in institutional space.
