Ok I loved being at the @torontoshitshow and I’ll tell you why! Also why I was happy to take a risk on a first time show and travel across the country… Great admin. Easy application process. Great website. Well known, dedicated show producers. All these things combined show me it’s going to be a great show because it’s what they do. Big thanks to @queeniescards and @effinbirds The branding. The name is outstanding. The logo is clever. Everything about it is intriguing and draws people in. They had pins shaped like bird poop. Our vendor name tags were bird poop. They had branded merch for sale so everyone could have an iconic pin even if they didn’t get a swag bag. (I bought one). Great branding from real artists will win EVERY TIME. Great assortment of vendors, I don’t know a lot of the toronto crowd personally BUT I used to carry a few of the makers in my former retail shop, and I got to meet them in person finally! It was great to get to know new people and make friends and shop makers I’ve never seen before. There was a lineup at 8am. The swag was unreal- and vip ticket holders got an amazing swag bag. I overheard ppl outside saying “I don’t care how long we’re here I want free stuff” and it was cold outside hahaha. And they SHOPPED. The traffic was steady nearly all day. I had sales immediately when we opened and all day. Because the theme and merchandise was promoted to be offensive, customers knew what they were getting into so I didn’t have to apologize for swears for my designs! (Like at an old lady craft show lol).
