🩷 PARIS’ LAW — FROM LIVED EXPERIENCE TO A MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE! 🩷

Today, we want to celebrate one truly extraordinary woman. ❤️

The Jessica Project is incredibly proud to be a partner and supporter of Paris’ Law, a campaign founded by the inspirational Paris Shears.

A survivor, advocate and campaigner who has turned her lived experience into a powerful voice for change, Paris works tirelessly to challenge the gaps, stigma and failures within our justice system that continue to impact victim-survivors.

And what a force she has become! ❤️

In just SIX MONTHS, Paris’ Law has gained the support of over 105,000 people, with the petition now heading for a debate in Parliament on Monday!

105,000 voices. One determined survivor. A movement demanding to be heard.

Paris, we hope you recognise just how remarkable this achievement is.

Your courage, determination and commitment to making things better for others are truly inspiring.

You are living proof that lived experience is expertise, survivor voices matter, and one person’s determination can bring thousands of people together. Something that we are proudly vocal about here!

We are so lucky to have you, and we will continue to champion you and the incredible work you’re doing.

Today you were live on @bbcbreakfast and on Monday you’re heading to parliament, and the journey is just beginning.

From all of us at The Jessica Project, we are SO incredibly proud of you! 🩷

Whatever happens next, you’ve already achieved something extraordinary in such a short space of time.

Keep shining, keep challenging and keep using that powerful voice of yours.

You’ve turned your pain into purpose, Paris, and we couldn’t be prouder to stand alongside you. ❤️

🩷 THANK YOU SKY NEWS FOR SHINING A LIGHT ON SUCH AN IMPORTANT ISSUE.

We are incredibly grateful to @skynews for inviting our Founder, Priya Dawkins, to play such a significant part in this important production.

A deeply concerning trend involving products that glamourise strangulation as a sexual fetish is being promoted across social media platforms.

We cannot normalise, glamourise or minimise the dangers of strangulation. It can cause devastating injuries, including brain injury, and can be fatal, even without visible marks.

⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING: Please swipe for the video only if with a TW. Sexual violence, non-fatal strangulation and personal experiences of abuse.

Priya rarely shares her personal experiences publicly, but after seeing this product, she knew she had to speak out, drawing on both her lived experience and professional expertise.

Some conversations are uncomfortable, but that is exactly why we must have them.

We must challenge the normalisation of violence against women, particularly when dangerous behaviours are repackaged as sexual trends or entertainment.

These products reflect a deeply concerning culture of misogyny, and we must call it out.

A heartfelt thank you to Phoebe and the wonderful Sky News team for approaching this sensitive subject with such care and professionalism.

Thank you also to @alexdaviesjonesmp Alex Davies-Jones, @institutefas the Institute for Addressing Strangulation, @sexpressionuk Sexpression and @claremcglynn_ Professor Clare McGlynn for contributing to this vital conversation.

Strangulation is not harmless. Violence should never be glamourised. Women’s safety must always come first.

Education creates awareness. Awareness supports prevention. Speaking out can save lives. 🩷
