Waves & Sistahs
The music is like this ball of yarn that's been unraveling my whole life. I feel it come in wavese and sistahs.
Runs and plays with the notes ive betrayed
The walkin aways,
And nothing to says, cuz my voice was raised
The little bruises that ive ignored some days
I came from a brave womb
The type that bares fruit straight from the moon, strong sistahs, mothers and ainte Anns
Type prayed i would
Bloom as a flower
That showers the broken with
Peace
Ive walked these streets and brother'ed
The fatherless, been mothered by sistahs with brothas'
that know we didnt get no other
Why to show
Theyve seen us rise from anger, poverty and a lesser state of mentality to great to
To a star above the rainbow
As i watched you blosom
To a woman who is awsome
One that is planted with power and
Volumes of knowlege
I remember when you said,
"Im gonna finish college "
Inspiring me to believe in dreams of cosmic light
And never give up my fight
To be proud and black,
Not always quite
But to remember
Your words could start a riot
Alive and vibrant woman,
Sistah, ....thank you
For your waves
