Thank you to our volunteers who not only spent the afternoon at @chianimalcareandcontrol performing IKE (In Kennel Enrichment) but also recruited their family and friends to lend a helping hand.

When you first meet her, Lalaria will show you that she is, in fact, a young dog. But once she gets some energy out? Different girl.

She settles down, gets sweet & gentle, and is perfectly happy to hang out, meet new people, & give out kisses.

Her Doggie Day Out included walks, fetch, zoomies through the garden, hanging at home, a trip to the pet store, meeting new humans, & lots of love.

Lalaria is growing up in a shelter. But a young dog growing up in a shelter is still a young dog who wants to run, play, learn, decompress, & just be a dog.

She deserves the chance to grow up somewhere she can be a dog. She deserves to find people who think her big personality is exactly what makes her special.

10 years of running group trips has taught me a lot about what matters to me when it comes to travel - and shaped how I do things at Rock My Adventure.

Going beyond the bucket-list activities. Supporting local people. Keeping groups small. Mixing adventure with comfort. Showing people just how varied and incredible Africa really is.

And one of my favourite things - bringing together people of different ages, nationalities, backgrounds and walks of life who might never otherwise have met… and watching them become besties. ❤️

Over the years, our travellers have ranged from 18 - 82 and come from over 30 different nationalities - with most joining their trips solo.

10 years later, I still absolutely love helping people fall in love with Africa, and seeing the friendships, memories and ridiculous stories that come out of these trips never gets old. 💫

We’ve got lots of adventures planned for 2026 and 2027, with more coming soon!

More lives are saved every day because these people show up for our Chicago Shelter Dogs & we are forever grateful!

Our volunteers are their In Person Advocates.

Their Caregivers.
They give our Chicago dogs the opportunity to exercise both their minds & their bodies.
They give them love, socialization, & enrichment.
They promote the visibility of our dogs.

They help share with fosters & adopters ~ all the reasons we adore these dogs & why our Chicago Dogs deserve a second chance.

We need more people to decide to be part of the Solution in this Animal Welfare Crisis…through both in person actions & by sharing on social media to continue to educate more people.

Joyride, Senorita, Emryn, & Sahara traded their kennel walls for new sights & hundreds of friendly faces at Taste of Randolph this weekend.

They were petted by strangers, showered with compliments, posed for photos, & proved how much shelter dogs have to offer. Watching their tails wag as people stopped to meet them was a beautiful reminder that every dog deserves to feel seen, loved, & valued.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers, the Taste of Randolph team, & every person who stopped by to say hello, ask questions, share stories of adopted dogs, buy our Doggie Day Out shirts, & give attention to these deserving dogs. It matters more than you know. Also, a shoutout to the @whitesox for gifting Joyride a hat: she wore it like the Chicago Dog icon she is.

We’re happy to share that Sahara has already found her home.
But Joyride, Emryn, & Senorita are still at the shelter waiting for someone to see what everyone at the festival saw: sweet, deserving dogs who have so much love to give.

We say it all the time, but it’s true: our dogs don’t need perfection. They just need a chance. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped give them one this weekend.

✨ 10 years of Rock My Adventure ✨

10 years ago, I ran my very first group tour in Africa… and I had no idea how much it would change my life.

What I’m most proud of isn’t just the places we’ve been - it’s the people and the community we’ve built together. ❤️

Over the last decade, I’ve met the most incredible people. Strangers have become friends, and friends have become family.

We’ve shared unforgettable moments, laughed until it hurt, faced challenges, and created friendships that have lasted far beyond the trips themselves.

This weekend, we came together in London to celebrate (and it was my 46th birthday too 🥳)… and it honestly meant the world.

People travelled from far and wide - from Colorado, Chicago, Sweden, Switzerland and Ireland just to be there. And we even had video cameos from those who couldn’t make it, including some of our amazing guides in Africa, which made it even more special.

And that’s when it really hit me how incredible this all is. ✨

Rock My Adventure has never just been about travel - it’s about connection, courage, and doing something a little bit different.

To every single person who has joined a trip, supported from afar, or been part of this journey in any way… thank you.

And to those who came to celebrate this milestone with me - it truly meant more than I can put into words. ❤️

You’ve made this dream bigger than I ever imagined.

Here’s to the next 10 years 🥂🌍

A few highlights from 2025 ✨ 
Grateful for another year of beautiful adventures - at home, around the world, and most of all for the people I shared them with ❤️ Plus lots and lots of dancing!! 💃🏻

But remember: this is a highlight reel. There were plenty of rough days too - sickness, tears, exhaustion, long travel days, lessons, lonely moments, breakdowns (cars, not me 😅), admin, and everything in between.

That’s life bro! 🤪

I have been terrible at posting on Insta this year, but I did take a lot of photos! So here are a few of my favourite Africa travel moments from 2025…❤️🌍

✨ Walking with rhinos in Zambia
✨ Celebrating @katykelly_15 birthday in the Cape Winelands
✨ Volunteering with elephants at @imire.zimbabwe
✨ And rhinos
✨ Swimming with whale sharks in Tanzania
✨ Flying over Victoria Falls in a microlight
✨ Taking a 3-day river boat trip in Madagascar, camping on beaches with no showers (or proper toilet)
✨Which meant showering in a waterfall = heaven
✨ Visting the incredible @koumy_officiel in Lome, Togo and meeting Koumy himself - he’s wonderful
✨ Learning to kite surf in Kenya
✨ Our incredible Okavango Delta safari - animals galore
✨ Quad biking across the salt pans in Botswana
✨ Meeting Didi the (bonkers) Bushman in Tanzania
✨ Attending an Egungun voodoo ceremony in Benin
✨ Randomly bumping into my friend Bruce from Australia in Madagascar, especially as I wasn’t even meant to be at the airport that day
✨ Finally making it to the Grand Tsingy in Madagascar
✨ Sleeping on the Ntwetwe Pan in Botswana and seeing shooting stars
✨ Going on a boat trip around the port and fish market in Elmina in Ghana
✨ Falling in love with Mafia Island, Tanzania
✨ Going to the Devil’s Pool in Zambia with these beauties
