Renault Fuego 1.6 Turbo.

This car was destined for the crusher before @rabbitrunsgood found and saved it. It was sideswiped and then abandoned in an apartment complex in Fresno. Then it went to a tow yard for an unknown amount of time before the tow yard listed on Facebook Marketplace without showing the side that got hit, of course. It is unknown what caused the damage on the driver side but the door still opens and the car can still drive. The diagonal and straight indentations make me think that other cars were repeatedly lifted and dropped next to this car while scraping against it from a forklift at a scrapyard.
The Fuego was sold officially in the US from 1982-1985, and one could order it with the nonturbo 2.2L engine, or one with a 1.6L turbo like this one. This car was sold in the US under the AMC-Renault partnership in the 1980s and sales were not great. Compounded by the exit of all mass market French car brands from the US (I don't care about supercars like Bugatti), parts availability for Renaults in the US became scarce and remaining examples on the road are extremely rare. This is only the 2nd Fuego I've ever seen with the first one being a 2.2 example. This 1.6 Turbo features a unique rear glass decal that, although faded under the intense Central Californian sun, still displays a peculiar early 1980s excitement conveyed by the gradient lines and bold font.

Always fun catching up with everyone and a lot of fun standouts but my favorite was @rabbitrunsgood 1983 Renault Fuego. I took a break from posting that sort of went a bit too long, so I thought a post commemorating my recently sold 🇮🇹’87 Alfa Romeo Milano Gold would be a good reason to return. I had this car for a little over three years. It was really fantastic, but I am trying to downsize a bit, and my friend @jhmbb2 had always wanted one, so I was happy to rehome it with him. For some comparison, 1, 3, 5 are from the day I brought it home on April 6, 2023, and slides 2, 4, 6 are from its last day with me on August 15, 2026. Slides 7, 8, 10-12, 16 are from the shop @leichtbauwerkstatt who I bought the car from (not running), slides 13-14 are the Milano’s triumphant display at @macchinissima III, and slide 15 is at @bestoffranceanditaly … The last two slides are with my other red cars. #alfaromeo #alfaromeomilano #alfaromeo75 #socalcars #bussov6
