🥂🌹🎭LA TRAVIATA🎭🌹🥂
Thank you @prestonoperaofficial @helenharrisonconductor & @su_mowat_ for having me on board as the Rose Cast's Annina. The whole process has been full of giggles, @fbowness.soprano 's baked goodies, manc->preston car rides, unlimited prosecco from empty bottles, and a good balance of work hard/play hard vibes. Super grateful to the cast & chorus for all their hard work these past few months and to my northerners - funny how we all happened to audition for the same thing at the same time, and this combination of us has made the whole experience lovely. How curious.

Until next time ❤️‍🔥

Sing me to sleep by Gabi Burton..
It’s been a minute since I featured a cosplayed character, but as soon as I started Sing Me to Sleep, I knew my friend Rania would make the perfect Saoirse, a stunning siren with a voice that lures sweetly. Seriously, go check out @railey.bailey she is Saoirse in this photo and her singing? Perfect match!

This book had me hooked from the start. We follow Saoirse, a siren hiding in plain sight as the model soldier in training by day… and an assassin by night, driven by her siren urges. She is fierce, vulnerable, and navigating some seriously high stakes to protect her family. I was rooting for her the whole time, even when things got morally murky

The copy I got is a gorgeous special edition from FairyLoot, it's an absolute beauty. The story features an all Black cast and is written by a Black author, which felt really refreshing to see in a fantasy like this. Honestly, more of this, please.

Chatting with Rania about the story led her to recommend Skin of the Sea, a Little Mermaid-inspired tale I’ll definitely be posting about soon. Guess I just missed the chance to do mermaid may..oops.

🧜🏿‍♀️QOTD: Which morally grey character had you rooting for them?🧜🏿‍♀️ Photo shared by Twisted Tavern Tales - Books, Costumes, Cocktails on May 31, 2025 tagging @queryqueen339, @bondedengagement, @starfall.engagement, @orangebirdengagement, @alldayidreamofbooks, @bookstabesties.engagement, and @ourfictionallove. ArcTanGent 2024 🤘💚

Festival no.5 and second time here. The sun was blazing; the music, amazing.

Began the day hanging out in Camp David with Kit and Charlie, and with one of the best surprises for Charlie... elevating the "Kentucky" story with matching chicken t-shirt action. Sadly, the only photo we took (and what a fucking brilliant photo it was), was on Dan's phone which ended up being pilfered during Meshuggah 😭

Hung out with the beautiful Rania and Simon, and met some new festival babes too 💖

Really enjoyed checking out The Omnific again - still amazed by what they can create with two bassists and a drummer 🎸🎸🥁

Absolutely loved seeing Plini for a second time this year, each song feels like a sunrise 🌅

And for contrast, we finished the evening with the blistering, pulsating polymetric sounds of Meshuggah. An experience difficult to describe, as the crowd turned to liquid during the opening bars of Rational Gaze... one I will not be forgetting in a while.

Until next time ATG... one more to go! 🤘💚

Eschalon: Live Review - @229london
The stage is dark, dramatic piano, orb-like, whirlwind music plays. “Welcome to Eschalon” is recited on a voiceover. The band are silhouettes exhumed in smoke. Flashing red lights to the beat of our racing heart’s glow in emergency-like timing. The set starts off as it means to go on; there’s a mix of sounds; all very intense and all at once; their sound is creatively challenging the scene as we know it.

Smoke matches the illusive mood; the band are shadowed but not in our doubts about their abilities. We try not to cough from smoke machines as we open our mouths wide and inhale our gasps at how talented they are. A fan by the front of the stage is on his knees and we’ve never seen a human being having such a visceral reaction to a band; his arms outstretched upwards holding on to and reciting every word performed, it’s the most beautiful thing we’ve ever seen, and it reminds us of how powerful this music is.

Gig number 4 of 2024 - @esotericaband at @o2acadislington 🤘 (still counts seeing the same band twice, right?)

Bit of a contrast to Wednesday night, this time with added balloons, smoke, and confetti! 🎈🎉

Loved seeing some very dear old friends and meeting a couple of new ones too ❤️
