PCT Days 1-16 (Miles 0-181.2)

Wanted to pick a few landscapes to show from my first few days on the trail. We've already encountered intense winds and freezing rain, the "death star" (a friend's phrase) of the high desert sun, dry conditions, wet conditions, cloudy conditions, and quite a bit in between. There is a lesson to be had in every sunburn, every viewpoint, every snake encounter, and I'm here for all of it. It's so easy to learn out here. You just have to keep walking.

What I haven't shown here is the insane number of unique, wild, intelligent, hilarious individuals I've met since stepping foot on trail. Shout out to all of you. As some guy yelled out the window of his truck in Julian: "Keep on truckin!"

Tahoe Rim Trail ✅

Man oh man what can I even say about this one? Our biggest adventure yet, the anti-vacation, the intentional challenge. Mosquitoes feasted on us, we were hot, tired, in pain, sometimes even fearful. I lived in filth and embraced it. I came away from this hike with the new knowledge that it's necessary to move through difficult situations if you ever want to grow. You need to force yourself to move forward through pain and discomfort if you want to be a better, stronger person. And when you come out on the other side, life is waiting for you. On the other side, the life that surrounds us is constantly shifting and growing, just like you. It's a really special and beautiful thing.

Tahoe is such a unique place! After exploring so many hidden corners around the lake, I no longer see it as a tourist town for snowsports (the way I experienced it growing up). I now see it as an infinite natural playground where you could spend the rest of your life turning over rocks and jumping into alpine snowmelt lakes and never tire of the beauty it has to offer. There is nothing quite like waking up to the sound of birds and sunrise in the morning.

To do this with my loving and caring partner @rainbownuggett was such a perfect experience. Absolutely couldn't have done it without her.

Special shout out to @_chri5 for delivering a very special meal and premethrin to us when we really needed it.

PS - I've got a feeling this won't be the last one 😉

Spent a little time livin' free out in the mountains ;)

If you know this area, you know how special it is. So grateful I got the chance to do a hard reset out in nature and get a good reminder of how much beauty there is in everything!
