Altered versions of reality through experimental photography processes

Some journeys are not meant to be documented.
They are meant to be absorbed.
Last year I travelled to Iceland with the desire to observe its landscapes, but photography soon became something more intimate: a way of collecting fragments of a place and translating them into my own visual language.
I worked with different forms of image-making — photographing the landscape, creating Polaroids, experimenting with lumen prints made from plants and seaweed, and creating poetic portraits of my dear friend @gabi_barnat immersed in the vastness of nature.
Each process became a different way of listening.
The imperfections of the analogue image, the marks left by organic matter, the unpredictability of light and chemistry, the movement of a body through an immense landscape — all became part of the work.
I am interested in what happens when photography moves beyond representation.
When an image is no longer simply a record of what was there, but becomes a trace of an encounter.
Iceland was not the subject.
It was the material.
A landscape to photograph, touch, transform and remember.
What remains is a collection of fragments —
of light, water, plants, skin and memory.
A journey, translated into images.

WHERE THE BODY MEETS THE FOREST 💙
What happens when the images of a forest become part of a woman’s body?
For this series, I printed a top with cyanotype, using a selection of my photographs of trees and ethereal female figures. I wanted the branches, textures and silhouettes of the forest to dissolve into female figures, creating a new visual language where nature and the feminine body become one.

The forest is not simply a landscape.
It is a body.
It breathes, grows, sheds, regenerates.
And perhaps being a woman carries something of the same rhythm —
the ability to transform, to contain, to bloom and disappear,
to be both fragile and deeply rooted.
The cyanotype’s blue becomes a kind of memory:
a trace of the trees transferred onto fabric.
For these photographs, another artist wears the piece and becomes part of this imagined landscape.
Her body is not simply wearing the images of the forest — she enters them.
Branches become extensions of her arms.
Trees become skin.
The landscape becomes an inner place.
A collaboration between photography, cyanotype, textile and the female body, exploring the invisible thread that connects us to the natural world.

As is traditional, on San Giovanni’s Eve I prepare Acqua di San Giovanni, the water which will sit all night under the moonlight, and which I will then use for a little ritual of renewal.
Summer has arrived ✨
using the flowers and water, I’ve decided to make two lumen prints to celebrate the start of summer.

Time, sunlight and the beauty of nature turn paper into a poem.

In my mother’s garden a glimpse of Italian summer.
Roses are blooming with the jasmine, smelling sweet and surrounding everything with a warm kiss.

These lumen prints are the memory of this moment of beauty.
