Happy (second) birthday baby @monssen 🎉
The first was meant to happen in early July...🤔

Back in our happy place. I still think people sleep on @theluibar. The food and wine comes out of the @vuedemonde kitchen and cellar, respectively. And you get those enviable city views.

Before this moment, @monssen had only sabered a cheap bottle of Prosecco in the basement of our city apartment seven years ago with a kitchen knife 😄

12 years ago, I arrived in Australia with a suitcase, a lot of dreams, and absolutely no idea where this road would take me. 🇦🇺

From my beginnings in Maleny, to Melbourne, and then back to the Sunshine Coast 3 ½ years ago, there have been plenty of twists, challenges, goodbyes, new beginnings and unforgettable moments.

But more than anything, there have been people.
People who crossed my path, shared a chapter of my life, helped me along the way, and made Australia feel like home. ❤️

12 years, countless memories, and one very long road later… I’m finally a Permanent Resident. 🇦🇺

Grateful for every chapter. Grateful for every person.
And excited for whatever comes next.

Home, at last. ❤️

If you don’t know him already: meet Raj, our restaurant manager.

Born in Perth, raised in Hobart. A youth spent with a love of theatre, philosophy and psychology, which, as it turns out, is decent training for a dining room.

He worked in bars and pubs first, then moved to Melbourne and started in restaurants. He’s been with us since 2018, quickly moving up the ranks to his current role.

Lately he’s gone deep on the fine teas of the world, Jura wines and Australian cheese making. But really he just lives and breathes hospitality.

Current Favorite drinks: a Gibson Martini, or a Mezcal Negroni. Still a pub loyalist at heart.

6 years later, same incredible views, but this time I got to just sit back and enjoy the ride! 😜🍷

Such a treat to be back at @vuedemonde 🖤 The food was on another level - shoutout to @hughsallen , but honestly, it was the hospitality that made the evening @hugosimoessantos .

Something you might not know is while you can buy a box of our Fig Leaf Banksia Native Chai on our store, you can only experience it at @vuedemonde and @theluibar when dining out.Paired with their signature chocolate souffle, it is a match made in the clouds(or better know as the 55th floor of the Rialto tower).

A tasty little Autumn menu

Starter bites:
~ Mini grilled Onigiri filled with Black Garlic and Ume paste
~ Tartelette with persimmon jel, duck pate, bresaola and hoshigaki

~ Celeriac steaks, parsnip pure dressed with a brown butter, horseradish and tarragon sauce

~ Retired dairy cow fat warmed Scallops in a passionfruit, marigold and black pepper emulation. (LOTS of foccacia was used here to mop up that left over sauce)

~ (The fav of the night) Inspired by Golden duck Salted egg yolk chips. Crispy skin chicken thigh coated in yolk jel, topped with a Salted egg yolk chips inspired chilli crisp and cured emu yolk. Absolutely slapped.

~ Pan fried, dry brined Kangaroo on an Autumn and Aussie rif on yum nua.

~ Pome Sorbet, sorbet from 4 apples, 2 pears, Tassie quince and Pear eau de vie, served in the most pretty Pink Lady apples

~ Sticky Date pudding filled and smothered in Tonka bean butterscotch sauce and vanilla cream

Petit Fours
~ Beef caramels
~ Fresh Pine Kohakutou

AMAZING wine and beer from both @rajixbabu and @udaykhaira
A few cocktails, more beers, Chartreuse and free access to the whisky cabinet.

Evident that there was some good times had, big love to @adumdidee @rajixbabu @udaykhaira Heart, belly and up are all so very full 💖
