Here is a little bit of the back story 👇🏽

• In October of 2020, Celine Diona had fallen on hard times after the pandemic hit and she had to close her hair braiding business. Her landlord attempted to evict Celine, who had fallen behind on her rent. Law enforcement was called, followed by the Family Police aka Child Protective Services.

•Instead of offering this family ANY help, Wake County Human Services @wakegov ripped this child from his mothers arms and arrested Celine for trying to stop the kidnapping of her child.

•Celine speaks limited English and was never provided an interpreter or a chance to reunify with her son.

•Celine rights were later TERMINATED!

In the first part, we began the story of Rolanda Byrd, whose son Akiel Denkins was killed by Raleigh police at age 24. Part I follows the days and weeks surrounding his killing, and gives a personal window into the experiences of family members who have lost their loved ones to police violence. Rolanda Byrd is the Executive Director of Raleigh PACT – short for Police Accountability Community Taskforce. She’s been on the frontlines of the fight to eliminate police violence in her city ever since her son Akiel Denkins was killed by a Raleigh police officer in February of 2016.
