RBC PRODUCTIONS PRESENT
GOD’S STEPCHILD
A NEW PLAY BY COLE NOBLE JEAN-LOUIS

A fierce winter storm mirrors the lives of twins Mikayla and Jason, abandoned by their deported parents and scarred by the foster system. In a transitional housing program, Hannah and Michael help them heal: Jason through music and faith, Mikayla through gardening, learning that flowers can grow in the midst of a winter storm. God’s Stepchild is a raw, hopeful story of resilience, and the power to grow again.

Join us at our Philadelphia Premiere of The Tropic Sun and His Eyes at the @blackstarfest Film Festival on August 6th at 7:30pm at the @thewilmatheater Theatre.

Following our 4x sold screenings at our World Premiere just last month experience this award winning film completely filmed in Haiti with Haitian actors that challenged us to reflect on “If generational trauma can be passed on so can generational healing”

Ruben, a despondent 26-year-old, returns home to Haiti to reconnect with his estranged father before his father passes away. The moment Ruben arrives on land, he is spiritually confronted by childhood memories of his father. As Ruben makes his way to his father’s house on foot, he meets a young boy who insists on accompanying Ruben. The boy wants to connect with Ruben on a familial level, but Ruben’s trauma toward family prevents Ruben from being vulnerable to him.

The boy’s youthfulness inspires Ruben to embrace his radical imagination, while Ruben’s determination to reconnect with his father, despite the pain it causes him, gives the boy hope that one day he will find his own family. As they interact with locals along the way and hear their stories of joy and pain, it becomes more apparent that they must love out loud and break generational trauma together.

Thank you to our screening partner: kweliTV.
