The trailer is here!

"The W.A.S.P.” is a short film about Hazel Ying Lee, the first Chinese-American woman to fly for the U.S. Military. Hazel is a mischievous, driven and brave woman who wants to serve her country in any way she can. And for her, that means joining the W.A.S.P.s (Women Aviation Service Pilots) to ferry planes from the manufacturing plants to their launch point on the East Coast to be used in World War II. But when her plane crashes in the middle of Texas, she has to fight racial stereotypes and a farmer with a pitchfork…

This film has been over two years in the making. I wrote the original script in early 2020 just before the pandemic. Last year in March, Fivestone Studios came on as a partner to create it with me. We shot in October of 2021 and finished reshoots in April. It’s been a long process with many obstacles but I’m very proud of what we’ve made. It takes a lot of people to make a film, so a huge thanks to everyone listed below.

We’re submitting to festivals and so we can’t post the entire film just yet but for now, take a look at the trailer edited by the great @sarahjholbrook and enjoy!
